| when I first heard this song, it reminded me of an ex of mine... we went through a really confusing breakup and I dunno it was all just blah and stupid.... "What if I wanted to break Laugh it all off in your face" "You say you wanted more What are you waiting for I'm not running from you" where they say they want something more serious, and yet whether you give it to them or not, its like they back away. "Look in my eyes You're killing me, killing me All I wanted was you" you try so hard to be what they want, and you think they're what you want, and yet it doesnt work out. "I tried to be someone else But nothing seemed to change I know now this is who I really am inside" you pretend and lie so much until you get to a breaking point and say 'screw it, thats not me, Im sick of faking it' | |

| I can see how what raw1 said would work–good job on that. But what I got from it was, maybe it is a part of himself that he's trying to change because he's unhappy with himself and it's killing him. When he says "I tried to be someone else But nothing seemed to change I know now this is who I really am inside Falling from myself Running for a chance I know now this is who I really am." he maybe getting discouraged, trying to change for the better or however he wants to change. Then when he says "Look in my eyes You're killing me, killing me All that I wanted was you." he may be begging himself to change. Then when he says "Come break me down Break me down Break me down" his hope might be completely gone and he has no more will to try. Also, i think the video shows this explanation, because each of the guys are looking at themselves. When Jared is singing "...This is who I really am," he is grabbing his cloan and screaming it in his face. Oh well, that's just what i got from it (and I don't think i explained it clearly enough). Just about trying to fix yourself, or find yourself. Either way, it's a fucking awesome song. Kudos, Jared! | |

| I'd like Jared to father my children. Haha. I love the music video so much! I must agree with everyone here, the 2 Jared's screaming at eachother is the best part. Oh, and Jared shaking his beautiful hair. It is nice to know there are singers who can scream very well :) Not to mention, Shannon has very pretty hands.. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Next | |

| This song is about a person's realization that they can not change to be what the other person wanted, no matter how hard they try to be that someone else...that their partner wanted. The person finds it easier to "break and laugh it off" than go through the gut wrenching changes that could have made for the type of relationship that they both envisioned in the beginning. (I'm referring to changes like too much drinking, too much flirting, lack of emotionally connecting...stuff like that). This person decides that he/she knows that this is how they are and they are not ready yet to move to a deeper level of love, it would be too much personal change for the one who has decided to "break" and take the easy way out...and not work on his/her problems that are disturbing to the relationship. Does this make sense to anyone else? | |

| This song feels like Leto just had the REALLY short end of the stick in a relationship he felt very strongly about. I really love the feeling of it all. Another one of my favorites on this album. Do any guitar players out there just get REALLY inspired by this album? | |

| Jared is my hero. He's the only guy so far in this new wave of bands that can scream in a song without sounding like a dying cat. | |
