| I mean that this is a guy speaking, and now I'm going to dissect this song more in depth then I did before. Until you crash Until you burn [He’s saying until you’ve failed at something so completely it’s had SEVERE consequences] Until you lie Until you learn [Until you’ve lied your way out of dangerous situations and learned the truth] Until you see Until you believe [Until you’ve seen the truth and believe it] Until you fight Until you fall [Until you’ve fought your own fights and lost them as well] Until the end of everything at all [If you keep your vows and promises and duties until the very end] Until you die Until you're alive [Until you’ve died, whether in spirit, mind, or body and have been reborn anew and are living life the way it should be lived] Don't save me, don't save me 'Cuz I don't care Don't save me, don't save me 'Cuz I don't care [Until you’ve done these things, don’t try to “liberate “ me] Until you give Until you've used [Until you’ve given something up and until you’ve used someone else gift] Until you've lost Until you lose [Until you’ve lost, like, a fight or something special and until you lose the biggest of them all] Until you see How could you believe? [You preached about believing, but how can you until you’ve seen the truth?] Until you've lived a thousand times Until you've seen the other side [Until you’ve lived a thousand faces, a thousand personas and until you’ve seen the dark side of things] This is my chance, this is my chance [This is MY chance to lead, not yours] Don't save me, don't save me 'Cuz I don't care Don't save me, don't save me 'Cuz I don't care Until the truth becomes a lie [Until you realize that what you believed as the truth was a lie] Until you change Until you deny [Until you convert to the customs of this group and deny the one’s of your old group] Until you believe... This is my chance, this is my chance I'll take it now because I can This is my chance, I want it now [You can’t have it] Don't save me, don't save me 'Cuz I don't care Don't save me, don't save me 'Cuz I don't care Save me Save me Save me Save me Save me Save me I don't care [Again, he’s mocking the “Savior” and telling him to try and save him, possibly after something’s gone wrong and it was all the guy’s fault.] | |

| Reckon I agree with depression perspective. Thats what I always related it to, ultimatley saying it doesn't matter how much people try and help, they can never understand the bottomless depths that depression can induce. It's saying how the hell can you understand me and the pain im suffering if you've never experienced it, and trying the depression and emptiness felt into anger towards those trying to help in order to feel something other than the usual self hatred, worthlessness and hopelessness. "I don't care" is a pretty standard response for someone suffering clinical/major depression when asked questions about their feelings and perspectives. Moreover, self-confidence and self-worth among depressives is pretty much non-existant, so when someone does reach out and try and help, it can quite often be thrown back in the 'saviors' face, out of complete and utter hopelessness that is transfered into anger. He feels, in this song, that he can't be saved. He is beyond help and so defective that opening up to anyone would take away the one thing holding him together - anger and hosility. The last bit (save me; I don't care) it's a cry for help. It's saying he wants help, he wants someone to notice how miserable he is, and he does want to me saved. Nobody suffering depression wants to feel like that sort of desolation. Until you have, you can not imagine the depths of dispair it can induce. To me, it's saying "someone fucking notice, someone care, someone save me, because i've given up. I've tried, I've fought, I've lost and I can not do it by myself anymore. I don't care what happens to me anymore." Once you hit rock bottom, the struggle and effort required to get yourself out is just too draining, emotionally and mentally, to do it on your own. I reckon it's saying someone prove to me that there is someone out there that still gives a shit, because if theres not fuck it. I'm done. It's really difficult to describe the emotions felt during a deep depressive episode, but this song, not only the lyrics, but how I interpret it, sums it up perfectly. I've gone through depressive episodes (not bloody emo 'depression' either, I actually have a real mental illness that swings me between depression, mania and psychosis, that I don't share with many people who know me personally) and this song just reflects so much of what i've gone through and been unable to vocalise with anyone. There probably isn't a deep meaning behind the song, but it's how I interpret it, it's been a comfort song for a while now ;) BTC. | |

| Depression followed by contemplating suicide possibly? He's thinkign of killing himself, and he knows that most people don't understand why they would want to kill themselves. But when you're depressed, you don't really care and feel numb inside, for lack of another way of saying it. Anyways, he's hit rock bottom and killing himself is the only way/chance out. However, the last part where he repeates "save me"...err..i unno? =P | |

| i think this song is trying to give a big FUCK YOU to some supreme diaty, saying that because they cant fall, cant die, cant truly live by human standards, cant crash, or burn, that they dont have any authority to say that they can save me(the singer), because they havnt gone through what i(the singer)has been through | |

| i know this sounds out of line from what everyone else is saying i think that it may be that the person speaking is the savior [and it is seriously just a coincidence with my screename] i think that he believes that he himself is in a depression, he does not want anyone to save him because he is not supposed to be saved because of who he is he feels that until someone goes through and gains the knowledge that he has attained they cannot save him and at the end he feels he doesnt care about his pride and just needs someone to save him [although im starting to agree with arkangel more] | |

| I agree with hide no tameni about the Save Me part at the end. This, to me, is about a person, more likely a girl, who is in some sort of group. It doesn't matter what group it is, only know that it is not some kiddy book club or something. And this new person comes in and basically gets the rest of the people to follow him except for this guy. This guy's been through everything in the song and he's basically had enough and he's now standing up and addressing the people of the group and convincing him that the new guy's not the way to go. | |

| My take on it....it's about religion. He's saying why live for someone else, someone you can't even be sure exists. Why put so much stock in faith rather than what you yourself can do and be. This is his chance at life and he's going to make the most of it, his way. | |

| Okay...I believe sashley has the best interpretation of this song. Basically to me, I feel that this represents someone who is trying to help someone. Instead of them accepting it, they try to deny it by saying they have never been in that situation so why should they give a damn? The religion aspect doesn’t really click to me. The only possible thing I can think of is that the reference to "Savior" in the songs title is probably meaning the person who is trying to play god and attempt to help a person in a time of need. So since some believe that god or religion doesn't really make our problems go away, how could he possibly? I can understand this situation. You are in such need of help but you think people will judge u if they themselves haven't experienced what you have, So you will deny any form of relief or help. "This is my chance, this is my chance I'll take it now because I can This is my chance, I want it now" Maybe referring to liberation of helping one's self. Believing to want help now will make him believe that it will cease his situation completely. "Save me Save me Save me Save me Save me Save me I don't care" The end sums up the internal message to the song. Way deep down inside somewhere he wants someone to guide him after all..but he is so used to not wanting it, he will still deny it. 1 | |

| Well to me, it sounds like he is saying, that he doesnt need the help of someone who hasnt been in his situation. You have no idea what it is like, so why even attempt to try on something you have no idea about. He doesnt care about what you think, cause if he cant do it himself, then why even try, that isnt the point of life, you need to do it yourself, or you can never do it yourself. But that is just what I think. | |

| Yikes, long explanations... I'll try to make mine short. It's a person trying to tell a group of people that he doesn't need their help because he's gone through more than they will ever know. The, "Until you..." parts lead onto that, saying that the people will never know until they go through it like he had. Whether it's depression or what, I don't know, it very well could be. There is also a number of relgious aspects in there too, but there's also a lot of that in 30 Seconds to Mars... which makes me wonder... Does anybody know what Jared Leto's religion is? He writes most of the songs, and from what I've examined along with a number of people, well... I'm just plain curious. Rori | |

| I also agree that this song has to do with depression. I'll just pretend that it's a guy so it's easier to explain and I won't have to say he/she/him/her all the time. ;) I think it's about a guy who is severely depressed. He's thinking of DOING something damaging to himself, whether it's trying drugs or committing suicide or something else. There are always people (parents, friends, counselors, etc.) trying to save him from the darkness he built around himself. When he's saying all of those "until [insert words here]", he's telling all of those people that they don't understand. They haven't been through what he's been through, how can they help him? They will never understand until they experience what he has experienced. What they think he's feeling and thinking is not the reality at all. The chorus is him telling everyone that they can't save him and to not even try. He doesn't care if they try and save him, and he won't even acknowledge it. They won't save him so why would he care in the first place? He thinks he is alone and that he is the only one that can have an impact on his life and himself. Towards the end when he is talking about wanting this chance, it's after he has done whatever he had wanted to do (trying drugs, committing suicide, or some other self-damaging thing). He understands now that he needs help. He can't save himself. He wants this chance to live life like it should be lived again, but he already told all of those people that were trying to save him to fuck off. He wants the chance but he doesn't know if he will ever be saved. He doesn't know if he will ever have people there for him again. But at the same time, he doesn't want to be saved. The dark is inviting somehow. Maybe he doesn't deserve happiness. Maybe he was meant to live his life miserably so that others could have THEIR deserved happiness. He's thoroughly confused about what he wants and the purpose of life. He wants this fogginess to clear up. He doesn't care anymore what happens to him. He wants someone to care and to save him, but he doesn't care at the same time which confuses him even more. He doesn't care because he knows that the chance that people will save him is unlikely, but it's also something else. He's confused about his life. He wants to be saved but he doesn't care at the same time. That's why he cries for help by saying "save me" repeatedly at the end and then adding "I don't care". | |
