| This song really blows me away everytime I hear it. If you have heard it live then its double the experience(listen to S.A. harmonize) Its so beautiful that you can't put it into words. If you are ever driving at night by yourself, play this song and turn it up and you will feel what im talkin about. Nothing more to say except, just listen to it. | |

| I totally agree with you hurleychick, 311's music has so many positive messages without being too sugery or "poppy" - which is rare. I absolutely love them. They're the kind of band that will never get so popular that they'll end up compromising themselves. | |

| I think any 311 song can have different effects on people, not just one particular song. I can get chills listening to numerous 311 songs, including "Eons". I think it's a little ridiculous to say that if one song out of many doesn't do something to you or for you, then you aren't worthy enough to be dubbed a fan. They speak to their fans in different songs, whether it be "Omaha Stylee" or "Eons". It's whatever sends you to a state of euphoria that makes a song special. | |

| This is hands down 311's best song. It is what made me begin listening to their music and how I discovered the worlk of 311 and unity!! I consider myself part of the HIVE and have traveled the US to see them perform!! This is the most meaningful song to me....not personally, but because sparked my interest in the band! 1 | |

| This song has had so much meaning to me since the first time I heard it. To me, Eons is a song about how hard life gets sometimes, and how most people would love to just throw their burdens and problems on other people and have them take care of them. This song talks about how most of the time you don't realize that you feel hatred towards some people because they carry the same qualities that you hate in yourself. When you have a problem, don't blame other people...just "shut it down" and learn from the experience, and move on. | |

| I think hurleychick put it perfectly, one time i was at 311 day with my bros and we had some marijuana in our system when eons came on, we were in a dark room like you said and when that part came on we all were fucking insanely tripping, my firend, the ultimate 311 lover cried it was so magical. he just said that was the greatest song ever | |

| Well, I'm 18 years old and have been a 311 fan since I was 7 years old and my brothers were listening to it. I don't do drugs, never have, probably never will, but I can tell you right now, I know EXACTLY what any 311 fan talks about when they mention cosmic experiences listening to 311 songs. THIS MUSIC JUST DOES THAT! Especially this song! Almost sounds like it belongs on Transistor, but it doesn't matter to me what album it's on, I'm just glad it exists! I LOVE THIS SONG! i daresay it's their most underrated song. It will re-confirm to any true 311 fan just how special 311 is and just how unbelievable their music is in a world full of shallow, meaningless music. | |

| i think i read this on the 311 BB, go to a dark room...relax put this song on medium volume, and when it gets to "not an even field" see what you do..if nothign happens you dont deserve to call yourself a 311 fan. by 311 fan, i am going by the definition stated by all five members in ETSD 2. | |

| this song is so special to me. as soon as i heard the guitar the first time i heard the song, i knew it was going to mean something to me. "The ones who aggravate you most and happen to be ever close seem to be the ones lurching for the same things that you are searching the ones who make you feel ill and you think that nature should have killed those you curse when you’re alone seem to be so close to home", all that applies to me because the people who annoy me the most and try to be like me, live right up the street! i LOVE 311!! | |

| I remember a couple years ago i got to ask nick on the 311 bb what this song was about. He didnt really go into it too much but either way after a pretty long discussion amoung fans I left with the conclusion that it was initally inspired by the expectations "Down" had created there was meet by the limited success of transistor. and that explains the verse about pushing a pen that wieghs two hundred tons. Afterwards i believe 311 made the song more general so it could be applied to many more situations. | |

Jared Wanna Be |

| I started listening to this song because I was pissed off. I was emotional. I was very hurt by a relationship with a girl that I had fallen in love with. Although I had fallen in love with her, she hadn't with me. It tore me appart, and seemed to eat me away day to day. We went from being in a great relationship at school, to a distant and bad relationship when we moved back home. It has been very hard, emotional, and tough, but I have learned much about putting trust in someone. So when he sings "shut it down, shut it down" that means to shut down the madness, and all we can really do is try to make our lives better. | |
