:: Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm ::
Artist: 311
Album: Evolver
Tabbed by Kiki : 7/24/04
~!!~ Ok I borrowed most of this song from a plethora of other tabsites, and I
noticed they were all pretty much identical, only they were missing the *sweet*
ending that comes on about a minute after the actual song ends. I'm not sure if
most people are aware of it but you probably are. I won't take credit for tabbing
all the hard stuff like the solo, I just did the ending, but i figured since this
song wasn't posted yet that it deserved to be cuz it is AMAZIng. So good luck,
it's not too hard! :)

| Are you kidding me? No one has commented on this of all of their songs. This is one of the best. Its about how sometimes in life nice guys finish last and the jerks win. | |

| i agree with sk8nfool13, its how life isnt always fair "swimmers drown without a sound, a chalkboard scratching sound could craze the town" somthing small like the sound of a chalkboard could anger you, or displease you, but in this day and age swimmers drown without a sound | |

| Maybe Nick is talking about politics and how stuff is F'ed up and there is not much you can do about it and people (politicians) just turn their shoulder when they know something is wrong (an emperors clothes, never be exposed). Maybe he is observing the world and seeing all the peoples f'ed up actions and words and wondering why they are like that and how he is like he is. Some people dont even notice. But he is also saying look at positives instead of negatives (took it as a compliment, no matter what they meant). Awesome song, songs like this is why 311 is my favorite band. 1 | |

| This song to me illustrates a vague emotion of helplessness that occurs when you feel that things aren't going your way mentally and causes you to feel that things aren't working in your favor. The fact that Nick Hexum creates this mood through his lyrics is beautiful, and is enough to uplift you in the sense that you aren't alone in feeling such a way. After expressing the emotions in a more solemn way, the song turns completely around and illustrates the same ideas, but with a more positive beat. This signifies that you can easily change your perception of these ideas into something positive. At the same time, other lyrics such as "What makes me act the way I do? Why Am I asking you" describes how you should mold the positivity into what suits you the best, as no one is the same, no one has the exact same thought process. So it isnt clear cut, but its possible. | |

| You guys missed a big part of the song I think. I think what he's trying to say is that you should judge things that aren't black and white to you. Like when you call a girl and she doesn't call you back right away or you hear something about a friend talking bad about you but you haven't heard it from him. YOU CAN'T BEGIN TO DISPEL WHEN YOU CAN NOT EVEN TELL He's saying just relax and enjoy life and don't let negative people bother you. | |
