| I never saw it as a paternal song, just because of the band surrounding the lyric. It actually reminds me of a time I think every life has, where you're in that desperate love stage and you are just so focused on not losing this person. Even if there's some stupid stuff that goes down from time to time, you're devoted to them, 'but are you devoted to me too? | |

| I think the song could go both ways...that being that the singer is either talking about his daughter or his girlfriend. In either case, he is saying that he is in love and can't let go. He's hoping that the girl doesn't turn him away or shut him out. | |

| I think that he is with a girl and he has completely come out with his true self.. like there is something he is ashamed of.. or he is just ashamed of himself. He feels that if she knew everything... that she would leave him... its really not as sweet as what people think... | this is not a song about a father and daughter-- i don't think anyway. It wouldn't make much sense then. I think mainly, it's him asking "will you trust me and follow me in the unknown-- meaning the future?- to his girlfriend or someone really close to him. He's saying he not only loves her but he needs her in his life and he needs her to love and need him too. | |
