so right now, this is 100%wrong, but tonight, I'm dedicating this song to my best friend's boyfriend. I know that you may read this here sometime soon.. maybe within this week, but for some reason.. All I can think about is you. I don't know why.. but I guess it's just that, I see you and her so happy.. and I can't help but ot think "I had that.. and I just let it go without thinking it through..." *sigh* Call me if and when you get this...

Such a great featuring Bob Seger...has a very similar theme to Here by Me. (deep love relationship that is spent being away from her because he is on the road)

this song is about his relationship with a loved one, and either they just broke up, or one has left away for quite some time.

Chino69, your words ring so true. This song, to me is about a guy that has loosing someone, because he has to be gone all the time. The imagry of this song is beautiful, and it really touches ones soul. It is a reflection of what I am going through right now, and how I am loosing everything that is important, but my pride wont let me budge. I dont want to be erased either.....

When I hear this song I think of a movie I saw recently and how applicable it would be to what these guys go through... Jarhead. Picture a soldier out in the desert (or wherever) who is struggling to stay afloat mentally and thinking about the girl at home whom he loves so much... Just my .02

This song reminds me quite a bit of Turn The Page, however I feel that Brad was a bit confused with this song. Did he want to write... 1. A Ballad? 2. A rock hit? 3. A love song 4. A song about travelling 5. A remake of "Turn The Page"?

This song does remind me a little of "Turn the Page", because in "Turn the Page" it sounds like Bob Seger is travelling through the desert (at least it reminds me of that), while this song does the same thing.

i love this song, it's so beautiful. to me it's about being far away from home, from the people you really care about, and you miss them and want them to know you love them. (well, i guess it's about the lover). yeah it's pretty obvious it's about being on the road, i guess brad wrote it from self-experience. but i think it's something many ppl can relate to.

I realize that he's probably talking about being on the road away from the one he loves, but I think this is the perfect long distance relationship song. Even though it says "I just can't wait to get back home" -- that could be interpreted (to me) as "home" being when you're with the one you love. My favorite lines are And when the night falls around me And I don’t think I’ll make it through Ill use your light to guide the way All I think about is you And all these days I spend away Ill make up for this I swear I need your love to hold me up When it’s all to much to bear It makes me think of my boyfriend (long distance relationship) and how sometimes, it's really hard to be apart. You just don't think you'll last the night when it's been so long since you've seen them. But just knowing how strong your love is and that it can "hold you up" makes it better. And the "and all these days I spend away, I'll make up for this I swear" just means, to me, that (obviously) every moment we spend away from each other, we'll make up for when we're together. We won't have lost time because we treasure every second we're together.

I got married recently, to the love of my life. I can't breathe with out her. She is my soul, my life, and my one and only. I have also had to go out of town for work every week for the last 6 months. I feel that i cheat her time together, but she understands that sometimes you have to take your licks before you are able to get that big corner office. This song reminds me of her so much. I feel that this is how my life is right now. So i hope that one day i can make up all this time that i missed with here. I love you Kim, and you will allways be the star i look to in the night's sky to remind me of home.

Maybe Bob Seger just makes me think of "Turn the Page," but I see a lot of similarities with this song and that one. The feeling to me is the same. It's about being on the road and travelling and surviving, and being alone. Where you make a living and in doing so, leave your loved one behind. I always get this imagery, of being somewhere far away in such a cold place, with the wind blowing against your hair, your hands tucked in your coat pockets, and taking a stroll and just thinking. How this life is so much a place we don't fit in sometimes. Even if there was a way to see your family or loved ones across the globe in an instant, well I wish it wasn't fiction. We all work so hard in this life. We all try to be someone. And it gets incredibly difficult just being here at times. How we all need that someone we can always think about, remember, and pull us through those tough times. I hope that each and every one of you has that someone. Or if not, I hope you will. Sometimes the sufferring involved with loneliness is merely just the fact that you don't have someone that thinks of you. That you don't have someone that is watching over you. To be erased is the worse thing to me.
