| Alright. Both 3 Doors Down and Nine Days sing this. Only, Nine Days has this labeled as "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" and 3 Doors Down has it as "Story of a Girl" Most artists/bands usually get permission from the other if they would be alright in singing one of their songs. It's kind of like how A*Teens are when they sing songs from ABBA or Elvis. And, yeah, I suggest that we come up with the meaning to this song than acting like five year olds arguing over which animal cracker they want. [By the way, I want the one with their heads bit off.] I can relate to this song. My boyfriend's always on my case to try and get me to smile. I've had quite a rough life. I've been abused when I was younger, molested by my stepdad [who I thought I loved for ten years, but when he does something stupid like that, I had my heart broken.] I thought I would never love again, until now. Brian's mending my heart day by day. It's hard for me to keep eye contact with him, but I'm fine with everyone else. I fear closeness; something I just recently learned. Then, one day, while we were talking about the different accents I bring out at times, I looked at him. I've always appeared distant, and for the first time in three [almost four] months of dating him, I actually got a glimpse of his eyes. This lasted for ten minutes. The part I relate to is how I made Brian sooo happy. I had this smile on my face that could last an eternity. I've never felt so happy, and now that I've got this good thing in my life [someone to love], I find that I relate to this song. I've never been so happy until now. And, as you can tell by this comment, "You never seem to run out of things to say" ;; I have opened up more. I talk a lot more, and I'm getting comfortable with the presence of people. | |

| First of all, internet fighting is overrated so everyone STFU unless you have something to say about the song and secondly... 3DD DID sing this song, who gives a fuck if they wrote it? It's a good song and we're supposed to be talking about what it MEANS not who wrote it and who can call who the most/stupidest names. [/pointless rant] I like this song. When I was younger I always imagined they dedicated it to me (they meaning 3DD or the other band, depending on which version I was listening to) Since I NEVER EVER smile in photographs. | |

| One last note, I will quote what 'oofus' put on the Nine Days thread where that band talks about this song. [In an interview with MTV, John Hampson, the frontman for the band said this in regards to what the song was about: "It's actually kind of funny," Hampson said."[We were] doing a show on Long Island. It was an outdoor show, and there was a big deck that we were playing on, and we got there really early for sound check. I was there with my girlfriend, and as typical, we were annoying each other. "She's just aggravating me, so she walked [away] and started talking to somebody on the side of the club. So I'm just sitting there, and I was literally thinking to myself, 'Man, she drives me nuts. She totally drives me crazy.' But as I was thinking this, I was watching her, just looking at her, and she was having a conversation with someone and just started laughing. "And I swear I thought to myself, 'Y'know, she totally drives me crazy, but I absolutely love her when she's happy, when she's smiling," Hampson continued. "I don't know what happened, but it just came out of my head. I started singing that chorus, and I kind of picked up the guitar, and the song kind of wrote itself. Pretty much ten minutes later, it was done. It was one of those things."] 1 2 Next | |

| Okay.. I agree with everyone who said this is not a # Doors Down song. Not only did 3 Doors Down not write this song, THEY NEVER COVERED IT so i have no friggin idea why it is under their name. This song really isn't good... so can we somehow get it off 3 Doors Down's section so there's no more confusion? | |

| Alright... so bwebb41 is obviously twelve years old, since he's busting on a guy for absolutely no reason, and automatically assuming that he's going to bust back on bwebb41's use of the word "your". Which, by the way, IS incorrect, you imbecile, so unless you learn proper grammer, I suggest you put your computer away in some dark corner and go re-evaluate your life. Prick. By the way, 3 Doors Down DID cover this song. It's on half of the lyrics websites out there under their name, and the song IS different from Nine Days' version (particularly the vocals and the guitar. Drumming has been changed a little, too). Just because you guys have never heard of this doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Especially you, bwebb41. Until someone dies and crowns you King, take this very valuable advice: get that dildo out of your ass and FUCK OFF. Thanks, love. | |

| Man, there is some hostility on this board. Maybe 3 Doors Down did cover it, but I think it makes more sense for it to be on the Nine Days board (if there is one, I haven't checked). Lots of bands will cover a song once or so in concert, but it doesn't make it one of their songs. Know what I mean? | |
