8 Foot Sativa is a successful New Zealand based groove metal band, formed in 1998. They are colloquially known as the abbreviated "8 Foot" and the New Zealand music press is known to refer to them as The Bomb, bitch. In 2002 they had an indie hit with their self titled single (and unofficial themesong) "8 Foot Sativa". The band has toured and released albums internationally. Songs, particularly their eponymous themesong "8 Foot Sativa" have appeared in various television shows, in both New Zealand and abroad.
The band is named after an 8 foot marijuana plant an 'associate' of the band had stashed somewhere; Cannabis Sativa being the scientific name for marijuana.
