| I think anyone that has ever been in a codependent relationship or struggle with addictions would find a different meaning for this song. Everyone wants you to be the life of the party then when you cross the line and they have to rescue you they charge you with the rescue blues. I just see this song as something different. | |

| maybe it's just me but i dont see the music critics connections...... i think he is saying that humanity likes to see others suffer, because it makes each of us feel better about ourselves when we see ourselves as better than others.........so then, he is saying that his rescue, as in his lifting of someone else from despair or whatever is getting them down will cause that person to be something greater, to be happy, to rise above others. This then would lead to a scorn from others, which would then circle back around to the blues that the other person originally felt. he is saying to someone else something like "ya i can help you, i can save you, but don't blame me for what happens afterword" | |
