this song is absolutely priceless, anyone who says less has no appreciation for classic rock, let alone meanings in songs. it's kind of sad but is a good lesson that everyone learns in life. I do agree, this is the best Aerosmith song...

You know what..... For a second, I almost didn't recognize Steven Tyler's voice.... He sounds so much different when he was younger... You can always notice him when he gets to the "screaming" part though... Great song... They have so many top quality songs, how can you choose?

This is the greatest Aerosmith song ever...defintley my favourite one. Aerosmiths older songs are so much better than the newer ones like "Jaded". This song rocks! In fact, I think it was the first Aerosmith song I ever heard... Did you know that part of this song has been put it a song on Eminems new CD.... it's actually kinda cool, but it sounds better by itself. AEROSMITH ROCKS! :)

OMG i never thought train was good, but i got a new respect for their singer after they performed this on MTV Icon... of course Aerosmith does it better, but even Tyler said he was awesome..

There are way to many great Aerosmith songs to comment on, but this has to be one of the best and my favorite, so i chose to comment on it. In regards to Aerosmith as a band, the song was written when they were going through a tough time, albums weren't selling, there music wasen't getting heard, so Steven wrote it telling them to "dream on". To me it means, to not live in the past, live your life to the fullest, what goes around comes around. I think the song holds many different meanings for many different people. Oh and Please don't give any credit to Eminem ...Aerosmith is the best band ever!!!

It's when the band was going through some hard times and Steven Tyler wrote it to let out his stress. I believe that's what it is about.

i think its about growing older but not feeling older and about the past staying in the past and then the second verse i think is about learning from other ppls mistakes and what goes around comes around... its a very friendly song i could listen to aerosmith in my darkest hour and they would make it seem like the best day of my life!!
