By far the '75 Toys In The Attic Version kiicked ass over the '86 RUN DMC cover. Aerosmith are a rock band, and real drums and guitar solos beat drum machines and synthesizers ANYDAY.

i heard on VH1 Behind the Music that Joey played this LEGENDARY riff during a sound check. thats just amazing. apparently, the song title is from the movie Young Frankenstien when Igor says "walk this way..." anyway, awesome song...and i have to agree on turtonhot's comment.

The Run-DMC version was a pain. But there was no synthesizers at all, that is all Joe Perry's guitar work specially recorded for that track. I thought it was enjoyable, but what a pain, I can't bear to have rock songs turned into rap. I like rap somewhat, but that is a song you have to SING! and put some FUNK into it, too.
