| I agree with marcusrex, I beleave this song is about Davey's first exsperience with love and heart break. He met a person to whom he wanted so much, I think he even lost his virginaty to this person. (And I say person because it is a huge arguement wheither Davey is gay or not, honestly I think he's straight but to polite to deny a fan straight off. But it doesn't really matter does it.) Summer, I painted a scene..." This line I beleave he is saying that he created the right enviroment for his love too take place. This person was there. "Said,I can erase it for you..." In this line I beleave he is saying that he can change for what ever this person wants, as long as he can have them. "That summer created those words that came to life in three." The words are I LOVE YOU. What he means by this line is that before these events, before this "summer" that these words were just words and didn't have any meaning to him, until this person and these events. "They were denied by you." They didn't feel the same why, They didn't love Davey the way he loved them. All they wanted was what he could give them. "Summer I laid down below..." He laid with them, he had sex with them, or was about to. And he felt a personal joy, ecstasy, rapture, what ever you want to call it. He had sex with them. "I laid down by you and shared my frail light, You gave the dark to me." This line leads me to beleave that he is talking about losing his virginaty. He shared his light, his warmth, his body. And they took his innocence, for what is left after there is no more innocence but darkness. Also I think this is where he sees what this person is truelly like, a user. Now the whole chorus, or these next lines that are repeated, I beleave he discoveres that he was used. That he gave up his virginaty to the wrong person and wants to take it back, but he can't. And , like all boys, he likes sex. But he doesn't like what he feels. "Summmer, so pale, alone when they found me." Here I beleave it says that Daveys friends found out about him and this person, but this person was gone,leaving Davey to face them alone. "As I remainned sleeping I heard them say,'This summer created a boy of abject misery'" Here they tell him that this person hurt him, as they had warnned they would. His friends didn't like this person, they knew this person was trouble and told Davey as much, but he didn't, or couldn't listen. Now he is miserible. "He was designed by you." Davey knows this person hurt him, that all his misery was caused by this person's deciet. "So like a lost child.... So like a lost lie...." Here I beleave Davey says that he ran from all these things at first, but that he couldn't for long because it all came back to him no matter how hard he tried. That the lie between them of his pain came back to him. "Cover your eyes and we'll die together." Here he is telling this person, in the face of what they had done, that they have to face it together because "It take two to Tango", so to speak. "Will you cry for me?.... Or will you cry with me?" In this line Davey ask the person if they pity him or themselves, as Davey does. "I've been a lonely one...." Here Davey is telling us, the fans, that he hasn't had such relatoinships sense then, and that this person tainted his veiw of the world. "Am I the only one...." He's asking if any of us feel the same way. Davey is very sensitive to empathy, that's all he ever wants from his fans, after all. Then he repeats the first verse as if he is sadly thinking back on the whole thing. Well, it's kind of long but that's what I think this song means. It's sad, but kind of uplifting in a way. | Listening to this song and then reading the lyrics I got the feeling that this song is more about being content-or even happy-with life, but then he falls in love. He changes everything he is for her but in the end everything falls apart. With any chance of being with her gone he tries to retriet back to his 'summer' just to find everything that he once was and loved had faded, that summers loving warmth and viberant color had become cold and inpassionate. Or in short this song is kinda like Last Kiss in the sence that its about someone changing who they are for someone else and end up suffering because of it... | |

Maybe too beautiful to be true. That summer created those words that came to life in three. They were denied by you. >> Maybe he finally decided to confess his love, and his words were denied by this somebody. Summer I laid down below a glitter adorned night and silently sparkled my own way. Summer I laid down by you and shared my frail light. You gave the dark to me. >> In the beginning, his inner light was all shiny and pretty. As he fell in love and laid down by this special somebody, that light dimmed. I looked inside to find the one I sent away. >> Maybe he found out later that he didn't love this person anymore. But as he reflected upon himself, Davey realized that he has the same traits he hated in that other person. I nearly froze when I stepped inside to find the flowers turned to gray. | Totally not about suicide...i mean davey deffinately has a beautiful way of inturpeting what hes saying with a mystical mix of words but come on suicide? He says i thrive on this self mutilation so what hes saying is that hes doing it to himself...getting hurt by this person and hes aware of it. Summer i painted a scene that lit the stars for me. Said "I can erase it for you dear" is a way of showing his love. Although its something that means something and something he created for himself, he would still sacrafice it for that person. | Summer, I painted a scene that lit the stars for me. Said "I can erase it for you dear" -Ok, i felt the need to interpret this one verse alone, cuz none of my friends get it. (And because of it's quasi-insurmontable poetic beauty) In short: He painted a scene, meaning he created at atmosphere, a reality, that lit the star for him, that represented the object of such splendor, such astronomical proportion. This scene was his bliss, his true rapture. "Said I can erase it for you dear". This simply symbolize the intense sacrafice he would do for this infamous "you". He's saying he'd give up his rapture for this "you". But since the scene is also his reality, his life, one could assume that he'd go to the extent of killing himself for "you". But I feel like making a more conservative approach to this, so i wont conclude on this and let you interpret it yourself. I think there's strong argument for and against... like most of Havoc's lyrics Remember, this is all in the context of that Summer "That summer created those words that came to life in three. They were denied by you." Again, he doesn't name the words which creastes a certain ambiguity, for the typical assumption deducts "I love you". I'll go according to this too, but aCrowdisUntruth makes a good point illustrating that they could be any words inspiring a certain rejection. The most important factor to me here, is the religious reference "that came to life in three". It's a christian reference OR to the Father, the son and athe holy ghost, OR to Jesus who supposively came to life in 3 days. PLEASE dont argue the validity of the bible here, just ancknoledge that it's a reference, there to give a biblical proportion to this love that arose that summer. Summarizing: - Found bliss that summer - Found love that summer - The object of such love he'd give up bliss for its contentment - The object of his love rejected his love/him Now the real debate begins - What is this "you"? - Was the "you" the object of his bliss? ----->That would imply that "painting a scene" = falling in love - What is the nature of the rejection? Well, that's all for today, i got an essay to write on Thomasism for my mediavel philosophy class. I wish I coul dwrite it on this song instead | |
