| Yeah Dream of WAKING!! This song seriously rules though. SO whats it about....hmm well its sorta obvious what its about I THINK heheh im probably wrong. well it seems like its just about wanting to wake up from a really bad nightmare, so he's 'dreaming of waking up' and he is just going through all the strange, panicking, bad feelings you have in a nightmare. You can see this in the very last line "To cry, I try, to break the static keeping me here in between." which means he trys to break the 'static' that is keeping him asleep so that he wakes up. Another thing is that Davey calls the nightmare "somewhere between... between a dream and motionless reality". I reckon this is pointing out that a nightmare is between a beautiful dream and horrible, cruel reality. It is sort of a mid point - a nightmare isnt as nice as a dream, but it isnt is bad as reality. THERE we go I have deciphered yet another song! Actually that was my first ;-) cool. Anyway AFI rule, Black Sails in the Sunset is the best album with the best lyrics. This song isnt on any CD albums, its on the vinyl Art of Drowning which I will never be able to god damn find. Thank god I heard it on a free CD with a magazine. | |

| even though I know its not becuase Davey is way deeper...honestly if you listen to the lyrics in a completely non serious way it does seem as though Davey is talking about sex. On another note...this is one of my favourites...I love the guitar on here... | |

| no no no. a story at three is about intercourse, kids. harty har. i think its more about feeling stranded. trying to break the static.blah blah blah is trying to change something in his life he doesn't like. but is frustrated. i also think that his voice is pretty much mute to everyone around him and that someone just needs to love him and he'll be thiers.... somehow ithink i'm wrong , but do i care? no. x Sean the terrible. | |

| Interesting, what people have to say about AFI lyrics... it is quite possible that there aren't any "deep" meanings behind every word... however, my conjecture for this one is simply a feeling of indifference that has lasted too long, and that he'd almost rather be dead... but doesn't have it in him to leave this world. Hmm... anyway. I heart Davey. 1 2 Next | |

| I think this song is about life, and someone finding out how fucked up the world is, and hoping that they'll wake up and it will be just a bad dream. Makes sennse to me, and I love all the music, Jade and Hunter are awesome....and I can't leave out Adam, he is great too. | |

| Great song. One of their best, in my opinion. I don't think it's about a nightmare or about life, and I really don't see how it could be about intercourse. I'm not positive, but I think it's about a guy who's dying. Reason: The lines "I feel it washing over me/The slow poisonous tide" make it sound as though he is becoming seriously ill. Then, his condition gets worse. "Pins and needles dance on me/Sickness undefined" sounds as though he is losing feeling in his body due to an unknown illness. You know that feeling you get when your leg is going numb; it feels just like being poked by needles, doesn't it? Next, the lines "Between a dream and motionless reality/Will I forever lie?" make it sound like he has gone into a coma, especially with the "Please let them waken me" part. As the song further progresses, his condition becomes even worse: "I feel it gnawing, eating me/Poisonous and slow." Then the song changes a bit and the music dies down a little, sounding less active. It's could symbolize that his body is shutting down and he is close to his imminent death. I could be wrong, but that doesn't matter. It's a great song, no matter what it's about. | |
