| I think its about the Punk/Hardcore scene and how it is a respite for those of us who are less-than normal. also maybe how it gives us an opportunity to escape the lies of Convention than parents and teachers impose on us. just read the lyrics after thinking about this and it'll make perfect sense. 1 | |

| noooo, no no no NO. This song isn't about dreaming or sleep. It's about the world man. The world, is just a "show" and nobody realizes it. Days of our lives (shitty soap opera) go by, and it's a "show" and it's not very pleasant...I could go on forever, I won't. | |

| this song sounds like it's about a dream to me. dreams are an oasis within our lives in which we can escape just for a few precious moments from reality. In dreams we are not bound by any standards or rules and can even find others that relate to us. besides being about the nature of dreams in general, i think this song is saying that no matter what you should always dream--it can be very inspiring and gives you a break from your everyday life. | |

| He talks about how good it is to be straight edge because he is an ex-tweaker and doesnt want his fans (who send them mail written in their own blood) to follow in those steps. The CD is about how horrible meth is. | |

| I hate to break it to everyone who is searching for " a deeper soul clensing" within this song. Davey is speaking of how noone is perfect and we are all monsters in one way or another. He is speaking to a woman he is trying to have sex with. just a few lines " hidden explosion, glow till morning, go under, deep within divinity" he also speaks of the "fruit". Basically, he is convincing her to sleep with him because he is no worse than the other monsters of her past | |

| I think this song, like Wester, is about a relationship he/they have to keep quiet about. I think the whole AOD album is about a relationship, and the ups and downs of impending fame...after all, this is the last album before STS hit when they started to really get noticed. "Now ending discreetly, just like a hidden sin, as I go under please tuck me in. Make me invisible." - I think they have to hide the relationship from others. Thus, it is a "secret show". "This hidden explosion calls for a wandering cast with no direction" - This relationship results in others drawn into the process of keeping this relationship a secret from outsiders. "Enter all monsters let us twist another fairy tale. Go kill the lights, we'll glow till morning comes. I'll say goodnight and bow to everyone. Then we go under." Outsiders are present, so they have to pretend the relationship does not exist. So, once they all leave, or the show/concert is over, and he "says goodnight & bows to everyone", he is able to spend precious time with this girl. The "monsters" are those who are outside the circle, causing them to pretend the relationship does not exist, for whatever reason. And, fairytales generally are stories of real-life problems, often with implausible happy endings. When another obstacle is in the way, they invent yet another fairytale of a normal relationship where they can be out in the open, without repercussions. "We'll glow till morning comes.then we go under" refers to getting away to meet and spending precious time together before they need to go back hiding their secret. "The beauties are sleeping as fruit just rots away. Today go hungry. Let it begin. Make me invincible. There was a weeping I carried down today, a sigh worth keeping. Deep within divinity let's start another secret show". I think this refers to how it is painful they cannot see one another and he wants to be brave enough to acknowledge this relationship to outsiders. The girl is upset and he takes it to heart. I think when he speaks of 'deep within divinity we'll start another secret show' refers to getting married (in a church, since divinity refers to religion). "No need to fear here in the secret show. No need to worry I am just another monster. In you, I'll see me, in the secret show." I think this refers to how she does not have to worry when they are alone, but he is a "monster" since he keeps things quiet from others. I think this relationship has to be kept a secret since Davey (as well as the rest of the band) keep their private lives very hidden. You NEVER hear about a personal relationship of Davey's....Jade, though, mentions living with his girlfriend in the booklet that comes with the box set. If you google "Davey's/Jade's/Adam's/Hunter's girlfriend, wife etc. nothing comes up. Part of their "act" is to keep everyone guessing. Seems to me the relationship between Davey and this girl was developing during the AOD time frame, when they were on the brink of fame. By STS, the fame had destroyed the relationship - you can't deny there is ALOT of anger on that album! Whether they were married, I don't know, but he was wearing a ring on the left hand ring finger during that time period. Yeah, he was wearing other ones too, but the one on the ring finger was always there. I am one of those who think the tracks on STS are backwards....the whole album actually starts with "The time imperfect" and ends with Miseria Cantare. I believe the whole album is a self exploration of feelings - from sadness to anger to acceptance. Around Silver and Cold (going backwards), he starts feeling alternating acceptance & anger. In the video, when he throws his watch in the water, he takes a ring off his right ring finger & tosses it in, too - the finger where one wears a ring if divorced. I think Silver and Cold is about one finding religion as a coping method. | |

| I think and I may be wrong here........but I think that this song COULD be about the gothic/punk scene. "Enter all monsters" the fans "Go kill the lights, we'll glow till morning comes" Those who have been to an AFI show could prolly relate to this Then there is all the other stuff about bowing to everyone, and staring in a "secret show" as in the show being small and the media not advertising it or promoting it "In you Ill see me" Davey may be saying that he knows how is music effects people..... thats what I think the song may be about.....but it could have multiple meanings as alot of daveys songs do......but its a fucking kickass song.......AFI fucking kicks ass | |

| To me, this song represents the punk scene because the fans will rock and 'glow' until morning, but then the bands just slip away untill the next show without regognition from the general public. I think that the secret show represents the punk shows that Davey went to when he was younger and that people still go to today. 'Make me invincible' could represent the urge to effect other people in a positive way with his life and therefore living on in others hence; 'In you, I'll see me, in the secret show'. I think that he wants to be recognised when he's dead. That would kinda explain the whole 'There was a weeping I carried down today, a sigh worth keeping' which I think represents him being pleased that people cared that he wasn't around. The secret show could also represent the 'Fire Inside' which is inside people and can not always be outwardly seen, but will always be around. Arg I dunno - can't seem to type what I am trying to say. xXx. | |

| The entire art of drowning CD is about methanphetamine. "Now ending discreetly, just like a hidden sin, as I go under please tuck me in. Make me invisible. This hidden explosion calls for a wandering cast with no direction. Enter all monsters let us twist another fairy tale" -"monsters" are his tweaker friends and "twisting" another fairy tale means to spin the tweak pipe back and forth. "Go kill the lights, we'll glow till morning comes. I'll say goodnight and bow to everyone. Then we go under. The beauties are sleeping as fruit just rots away. " He's saying they will smoke tweak all night after everyone has gone to bed. "Today go hungry. Let it begin. Make me invincible. There was a weeping I carried down today, a sigh worth keeping. Deep within divinity let's star another secret show." -Well, you can't eat anything when you tweaking, and the fact that he wants to be invisible (constantly) refers to the feeling of not wanting to see any sober people when he is coming down or tweaking. Then he's saying lets tweak it again tonight secretly. " No need to worry it is just another monster. No need to fear here in the secret show. No need to worry I am just another monster. In you, I'll see me, in the secret show." He is saying don't trip, it's just another tweaker. Don't trip, were all tweakers here. | |

| i hate how people on this site always say, 'ITS ABOUT THIS, NOT THAT!!' davey is the only one who knows what it really is about, and i think we should all be opwn to eachother's opinions without calling other people off. You take what you need from a song, thats what his motive is. I personally think this song is about two people meeting at night to have sex and leaving in the morning. make me invisible- a forbidden love. Asking a parterner to make me invisible, tuck me in, protect me all through the night, (we'll glow till morning comes) becuase they know that in the morning you have to leave again. the beauties are sleeping- while everyone else is sleeping, they meet. I was at a summer camp, in which a girl in my cabin and i fell in love. We'd have to run off at night into a vancant cabin to have sex, and in the morning pretend like nothing had happened, becuase the pther occupants of the campwere homophobic rednecks. of greetings and goodbyes reminds me of that time in my life. the monsters part may relate to the fear of being walked in on. (no need to worry it is just another monster, no one can see me in this secret show) | |

| Think of the immortal words of Macbeth: "Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more: it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing." | |

| I have to agree with Kiefy here...I think in referrng to the "show" Davey is talking about the world. or life. It's all one big stage to do with it,what we like. But I also think that davey is a very deep person and no one can really understand what he is saying except him. But we can take things and give them our own meaning. | |
