| Heh, I just love the line "I lied too when I said I was hard, because I'm as soft as a thrift store sweater and twice as worn in." If I were to give it some sort of deep meaning, it's basically about him being with some girl that he hated and just wanted to kill. But the girl feeds off of this pain and keeps returning to him. Who knows really? Sometimes it's best not to understand Alexisonfire. | |

| ok here's the proper lyrics (for those who want to know): Jennifer, they lied to you when they said you couldn’t breath underwater. (So here it is, the end is near) I lied to when I said (never would've thought this might be something, you'd so easily discard) I was hard, (now I see it all so clear so it seems when you turned away you left a scar.) because im softer than a thrift store sweater and twice as worn in. I was cast away once but I will be found again. This I promise you. | |

| Oooh, they're awesome live. Saw them in Graceland, Seattle. They had the crowd so hyped up it was great. But I aslo have a question, what's with "Counterparts and Number Them" as a title? Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the song. Anyone know? | |

| It's not meant to be understood. The thing I like about Alexisonfire is the way their lyrics make little to no sense (especially on the S/T). Even listen to Polaroids of Polarbears George is just listing off random things. | |

| Okay, Its pronounced "Alexis On Fire". And on their website it tells you where it comes from. No, not porn. "Alexisonfire was the brain child of Helcama von shanowsitz, a reclusive Norwegian doctor. Dr. Helcama had advance knowledge of cloning and test tube human production. " Which searching up Helcama von shanowitz on google, you get the same thing. I think its pretty cool. Nice song as well. | |

| I'm guessing this song is about the end of a relationship, in that the girl has dumped him. "I lied to when I said I was hard, because im softer than a thrift store sweater and twice as worn in" - he may have been acting tough when she dumped him, acting all "It doesn't bother me, I'm over it", but really, he is in a lot of pain from the break up. "So here it is, the end is near, never thought I'd be something you'd so easily discard," - It's the end of the relationship and he thought they had a solid relationship and never thought she'd dump him so easily "Now I see it all so clear so it seems when you turned away you left a scar." - he realises that the relationship is over, but the way she's treated him stays with him forever, like a scar does "I was cast away once but I will be found again. this I promise you." - Considering this song is fairly angry/sad, this last line is very optimistic. She may have "thrown" him away but he will find love with someone else. Jennifer, they lied to you when they said you couldn’’t breath underwater - Now I'm not too sure about this line. Maybe he's taunting her - saying that she can really breathe underwater, when really she can't. So when she tries to breathe underwater, she'll die and that will be his revenge on her for treating him badly. I dunno, it's just a guess! | |

| oh and also, they do not play Counterparts live. Something to do with how they speeded up the intro on the album to make it sound better, and they cannot play it that fast live or something along those lines. | |

| ok ok but no one is talking about meanings here and i still dont get the " jennifer, they lied to you when they said you couldn't breath underwater". is he trying to kill her 'cuz she've hurted him? "because im softer than a thrift store sweater" and "the end is near" and the hole music feeling really makes me feel like death. | |

| Their name is ALEXIS ON FIRE not ALEX IS ON FIRE. They answer that in their Q&A on their website. This song is about a breakup. "Never would have thought that I'd be something you'd so easily discard." She threw him away. But he's staying strong and he'll get over it and find a new relationship. | |

| I love that first line. Maybe he's saying that she's some not human...and can breathe underwater. It seems like a really spiteful, sarcastic comment. Or maybe he's saying that she's more than human (sarcastically because maybe that's what she thinks of herself)...it's a confusing line...but i still love it. | |
