I liked this song better as "New Noise" by Refused. Alexisonfire, you suck.

I'm pretty sure that this song is about the North American Blizzard of 1977. It fits in very well, especially the line "your car might be your coffin". nine people were found dead in their cars after the blizzard was over. It was also described as "a wall of white burying the city" there's a lot of other links too. check it out for yourself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_blizzard_of_1977

January 19, 1977 - Snow falls in Miami, Florida--despite its ordinarily tropical climate--for the only time in its history. Snowfall has occurred farther south in the United States only on the high mountains of the state of Hawaii. I know this has nothing to do with Ontario, but it's interesting to note. My dad is from the same hometown as George and I've been to Grimsby lots of times, the winters there are astoundingly cold.

Yeah, I'm not old enough to remember it but I live pretty much where it happened. That's what all the album art is too, pictures of the blizzard

Alexisonfire is trying to explain the panic involved when your home is completely buried in a blanket of cold lifeless snow. It's a metaphor for chaos. love it :D 1

Wow... I didn't even know that this was about the Blizzard of '77. I'm 15 and I live close to Buffalo, NY. It makes sense though. My parents lived through it. We just had a storm back in October of last year that was a "crisis" too. But it was nothing compared to the Blizzard of '77.

Above poster is right about the corrections. There was a huge blizzard in 1977 that wrecked a lot of Ontario and New York, I can't think of what else the one nine seven seven might be a referece to...

The ending should go like this: The season’s holding us all hostage Better do whatever it demands We should all know that we’ve got a crisis We’ve all got frostbitten hands One! There's nothing that you can do The sky is gonna crush you Nine! There's nothing that you can do The sky is gonna crush you Seven! There's nothing that you can do The sky is gonna crush you Seven! There's nothing that you can do The sky is gonna crush you This season’s growing cold I fear that this could be the end And there’s no sign of hope We’ve got a crisis on our hands

One last Sunset should be One Nine Seven Seven (1977), see Pulmonary Archery. "your car might be on curfew" should be "your car might be your coffin" other things are wrong but I gotta go to work. Amazing song, Alexisonfire does heavy psuedo-metal very well. Love the George heavy vocals :D

1977 coincides with the release of The Sex Pistol's only album... which marked the death of real punk and the birth of 'new' punk rock that was seeded more in style than politics. Your car may be your death... references to consumption and our reliance on oil, additionally how this drives the political infrastructure of our new world. Snow has always been poetically read as death... because it has no color and color... and it covers everything. The reference to a blizzard is our current situation, a crisis... where the question is basically "Is this the end of days?" but god will not answer. The blizzard has never stopped since 1977. Alexisonfire is excellent. You should read all references to 'town' in this album as our country, it is an enormous metaphor they carry through the entire album... and it falls in line with their last work.

The new album's artwork is completely tied in with this particular song. It even says in the liner notes. It's pretty much just about a blizzard in 1977 that hit St. Catharines and most of the Niagara region.

Although this is about the blizzard of 1977, I think it could mean any crisis. About how you can't do anything when something terrirble coming. It fits well when you find your beset friend has caner...
