| I think this song is basically about someone who complains about his life but when compared to other people's lives it's nothing. | |

| maybe there's a girl that person X is sort of friends with but he likes her a lot. she knows that he likes her and she quietly likes him too. she knows she could get him if she wanted but she would rather live the high life and party and go out with a cool party animal who can deliver popularity and fun but who she doesn't really love and he doesn't really love her either. she is fake and always wants to be well liked by everyone, and she prioritizes that over being happy inside. eventually it begins to screw here up inside. everyone else thinks she's happy and stuff but person X knows that she's pretty screwed up. after a while, things start to get ugly for her. once she realizes that she's loosing everything that she had, she wants to go back to person X who used to appreciate her for who she was but he won't take her back because she's sold out already and it's too late. this is a great song 1 2 Next | |

| I sent the lyrics to this song to my bf when he dumped me to be busy with his stupid little gang. I think its about loving someone and being disgusted with them all at once. He says "youre just see-through faded overrated and out of your mind". its like, youre missing something with me, bitch. and "heaven beside you, hell within"... its like... you could be so much, you have the option of being my perfect.. but you wont be. whats inside of you is dark and flawed. But thats just myy interpretation. indes especialles. | |

| Directly from the linear notes of the Music Bank box set (written by Cantrell): "Another attempt to reconcile the fact that my life and paths are tearing me apart from the person I love. All the songs I write about her are a way for me to maybe speak to her, express things I could never express." | |

| "heaven beside you, hell within" seems like it is saying someone seems all good, but within, they're not so good. And the part at the chorus end, "And you think you had it still", "and you wish you had it still", and "and you know you have it still" seems about wanting to go back to being good within and without. | |
