Not every AIC song is about DRUGS! Holy crap....what, do you think Nutshell is about drugs? Or man in the box? Well...nutshell may be, BUT THAT ISH NOT THE POINT. Anyway, yeah, this song is about detoxing(SP?) from heroin

Yes, Hardrocker and stevo are both right. A band may have a topic that they sing about a lot, but you shouldn't automatically jump to the conclusion that because Layne did druge this song is about drugs. To me, it's a friendship song, helping your friend through hard times.

I agree with OpinionHead on the meaning. This song is great, it's probably my favorite AiC song.

i think that the majority of the song is really about the drugs, but if WE change, well i love u... sounds like more to somebody else than to layne.... whatever never mind just song can't be all about addiction... to much love in it

Jerry wrote this song to Layne about his heroin addiction, basically as a way of telling him that there are 'no excuses' and he should quit because his actions were negatively affecting alot of people.

I think it's about drug addiction and how it effects friendships. Like in the video when they sing "and if we change, well I love you anyways" Layne and Jerry are looking at each other right in the face. Coincidence? I think not

Jerry wrote these lyrics, not Layne. Though I sort of wonder if it's about Jerry's friendship with Layne. The friendship line is so beautiful and memorable.

Another great tune with an awesome acoustic intro. I never thought about drug addiction but I did think about friendship. I do believe it is one of their more positive songs. I use the line "You my friend, I will defend..." to endear my girlfriend. I like odd love songs and this song is definitely odd love song.

My favorite song of all time. It seems to me like Jerry wrote it about a relationship, and they both keep screwing it up but in the end they still love each other.

It's Jerry being well aware of what Staley was doing, and he knew he couldn't help, and it's way of backing him up no matter what because Jerry accepted him like his own brother. 1 2 Next
