Transcribed by: Jim Taone

This is a song off the upcoming HWM/Alk3 split, you
can get the mp3 at jadetree.com... there's 2 guitar parts
in this at certain times, and the timing in the tab
isn't perfect, but the 2 parts end on the same chord, so..

enjoy,
jim

marching2x2, i think when they say 'youve got a funny way of showing off your bathroom surgery' he doesnt literally mean humorous funny, and if you dont show off being a cutter or whatever, why would you write that whole post about it? whatever. this is a great song, probobly my favorite by the trio. i dont know though, i really like enjoy your day and the metro as well.

vincent van gogh painted "The Starry Night" and he's calling the girl he's addressing Miss Vincent because the stars in her eyes are big and bright, as they are in the painting. How redundant was that? Hmm you should look at the painting; it's one of my favourites.

"And you've got a funny way of showing off your bathoom surgery" i'm not sure how many of you got this, but it's clear he's talking about his gf/ex/interest/etc's suicide attempts "I've never met arms like yours " i think with this he'd be literally saying "i've never seen arms as beautiful as yours" or something to that effect, which basically means he sees so much in her, and doesnt want her to attempt suicide/deface herself i'm sure i'm write with the bathroom surgery part, hence the queen of pain title, and scars, but the fact that the song later says "i've never seen scars like yours" could suggest a different meaning for the original "i've never met arms like yours"

This is one of my favorite songs also. I'm a huge music fan and I beleive this is one of the best written songs in the past couple of years. "I'm not much of a jester but I'd test poison food for you" and "you got a funny way of showing off your bathroom surgery." In my opinion, it's just brillant.

i think your right grandmastermath...when i first heard this and the part And you've got a funny way of showing off your bathoom surgery You said you were just cooling down from plans of leaving me There's something I should tell you, for we may not have much time I've never met arms like yours " thats exsactly what i thought of~some one who cuts themselves think for some reason she needs to, like she has so much hurt inside shes the "queen of pain" but he believes shes beautiful to spite this

THIS SONG IS SO SO GOOD.. "but I'd test poisoned food for you" i really love that one part because back in the era of the virgin queen they all wanted to kill her, they poisoned her gowns, and food aswell so really this refers back to the whole royalty thing again which makes this song EVEN MORE GREAT.

This song is about a relationship that he is having with a bipolar self-mutilator. He refers to her as "Miss Vincent" and makes references to the painting The Starry Night because Vincent Van Gogh was a bipolar himself. She seems to be losing herself to her addiction (of harming herself) because he says "You told me once I made you smile" as if she wouldn't even lie about that now. I can relate to this song because one of my closest friends is a bipolar self-mutilator.

this song is awesome, i love just how different it sounds lyrically and musically. but i'm pretty sure that this and while you're waiting (which also rocks) are alkaline trio song. my friend's a hot water music fan and he's never heard of these songs. and the first two hot water music songs are not alkaline trio covers. so they each did two new songs each and the rest covers of each other. which kicks butt, cuz i luv them both and would rather have my favorite band play them

OH MAN! This is one of my favortie songs...I heart it so great! There's a hard rain falling, flooding your attic, it's clear Can't put out the fire that resides in you, my dear There's something I should tell you, for we may not have much time I've never seen scars like yours WOW! Powerful, beautiful, and amazing. I think its about a guy in love with a girl who is still caught up in her ex. I have been in that situation, with my exboyfriend..NOT FUN!!

This is by far one of my favorite Trio songs. Definatly one of their best written dealing with metaphors and symbolism. I guess it clicks with me 'cuz I, like many people posting on this song, know someone like the person that this song is about. I want to test her poison food.

matt, dan, and drummer guy never cease to amaze me... they totally rock out with this doubling up of the guitars technique, which is kinda interesting to me... but my favourite part: "I've never met arms like yours." maybe they had my friend and i in mind when they wrote this song, cos damn, it hits VERY close to home... even the "new york city that we crawl" reference... see, i'm a queen of pain myself (however, i don't show off my scars, and if i did, it wouldn't be in a funny way) but i never really realized the things i was inadvertantly doing to my poor friend or "my king" "I'm not much of a jester, but i'd test poisoned food for you" that's sadistic yet sweet at the same time, same ole' skiba ;P gotta love it

I love this song so much. The guitars at the beginning sound amazing and compliment the lyrics and melody so well. To me this song is about when someone you love feels alone and you want to slap them because they don't realize how much you care about them. There's a sense of urgency in this song about how desperate they are to make them see that. The opening line there's a fire forming not to far from here seems to me like he's saying there's a problem on the horizon, something that will be obvious soon. "worn out on courtesy we've made our curtain calls" You can only hide your true self for so long, eventually formalities will be overcome and you have to confront your problems not hide them behind an act. I think the bathroom surgery and arms reference is talking about suicide and being depressed. The other parts are about being loyal to her and taking the pain for her "I'd test poisoned food for you" What really gets me in this song is how much he doesn't want her to hurt anymore, he knows he doesn't make her happy but is incredibly loyal. "your majesty you're royal blue, I'm loyalty my king of pain" It's beautiful.
