I love this song... It's definately my favorite by Alkaline Trio. It's talking about growing up and changing too fast, getting away from those who have hurt you, and vowing never to be put in the same vulnerable position again.

the graphic images are almost std-ish. This is a truly awesome song, probably my favorite on "from here to infirmary". The lyrics are so powerful and there are parts I think everyone can relate to.

I like the words to this song and the metaphors about the blowtorch and the chainsaw. It's quite a clever song really. Not one of my favourites though.

i just love how he describes the pain he feels..even though it's so ..graphic..it's genuine. Every breath that I could barely breathe Could barely make it past my teeth I took a blowtorch to both of my lungs a long long time ago And every step that i could take Each one more difficult to make Mr. Chainsaw came and took my legs a long, long time ago

this was the first alk3 song i ever heard, made a lasting impression on me cuz now theyre my favorite band. it also made me shape up and realize not to take things so seriously and now im one of the happiest kids around. the song isnt necessarily uplifting but more... eyewidening and thought provoking. the lyrics are just fucking perfect, no more can be said about them exception matt skiba is a genius. thanks to mr chainsaw, im happy about growing up.

does ne1 else think that the writer is talking to a part of himself, rather than someone else in this song? i sort of went through that recently, losing a part of yourself and having to grow up without it. i love this song, 'i'm having nightmares all the time, i'm running out of words that rhyme'... don't know why but i really like that bit.

There isnt enough words to describe but ill say this listen to the last lyrics of the song "Im Singin about growing up and giving in" i Think mr chainsaw represents all the shit you go threw growing up and the line "Mister chainsaw came and took my legs a long long time ago" shows how hard things can be growing up and i love this song cuz im still growing up fuck it i have to eventualy this just showed me it can be a little more fun.
