| I think its about a girl that feels very unworthy of anyone...like shes unaware of her own self worth. So she sleeps around and plays around and then does drugs and drinks to try and forget the crap she does. I could be wrong, but I know a girl that fits this song perfectly. she smiles at me like she just wants to screw...ya know? But I think she needs more than that, so I certainly don't, I just remain her friend. "Hey there sleepy smile" to me implies that he feels dearly for this girl. Well thats my thoughts...great song nonetheless :D | |

| I def think that this is about somebody on drugs... just picture somebody with a "sleepy smile"- they look like their high! It touches on hallucinations n the fact that their world is different from reality... n it seems like the person's friend is trying to help him get over the drugs... I've never really been into drugs, but I still love the meaning of this song...good stuff! | |

| i figure it has something to do with coke "sleepy smile" cocaine makes you sleep a ton, and he could be "scratching and itching" imaginary spiders from more side effects | |

| like tuna at said I don't think this song is about drugs. I think this song is more about a person who is living their dream life and finds it's not wat they wanted in the first place. All you've been asking for's been placed in front of you. ( They got the life they wanted and have everything they want) The headaches, the shaking, the boredom the boardroom brings. You're scratching at itching brought by the spiders beneath your skin. ( The whole board room idea is kinda like sitting in a meeting at a high paying job and going crazy cuz you hate what you do. Or mebbe a musician in the rom with record execs. The spiders beneath your skin are the people around you who turn on you or aren't true friends. Simply exploitin you.) The answer in question is over before it begins (the answr is that you have to make a change and you know it deep down) Hey there sleepy smile, I see you've brought your bedroom eyes. Not assuming you wanna keep 'em, I'm assuming you reckon you won't. (it's like being brought to the real world. Your fairy tale version of wat you hoped to be is gone and you don't want it back) | |

| i think it might be about some one who started out glorifying drugs before they'd done them, and they thought they were cool. But she didnt realise that along with drugs comes symptoms and shit "all you've been asking for's been placed in front of you" but i think the guy feels a bit sorry for her even though hes pissed off at her, because the "sleepy smile" sounds quite affectionate to me god i love this song | |

| Nothing to see here but the rain. There's nothing to hold you but the flames is my favorite part i think, even if they mistype a word in the insert(insert says "tou" instead of "you") | |

| i think it is about someone who wanted to have a successful office 9-5 job and it was placed right in front of them. hence the boredom the boardroom brings. now that he has what he wants he is anxious (spiders beneath your skin) and sick of it. sleepy smile cuz he wakes up early every day | |

| This could quite possibly be my favorite alk3 song. If you don't have Maybe I'll Catch Fire, you should definitely check it out. I think this song is about a person who lives in their nightmares, like a sleepwalking wanderer in an unkind world. Lines like "earth to sleepy smile" make me think that someone's trying to snap this person out of their reality and into what's real, but they won't return from their self imposed hell. Fell free to add your pieces of mind below... | |

| I see it as his message to someone who's having a problem with drugs... "All you've been asking for's been placed in front of you. The headaches, the shaking"; it sems like withdrawl symptoms to me | |

| my friend who is obsessed with alk3 thinks the drug of choice here is heroin, cause isn't matt on it? and everythign in the beginnning appears to be about a girl who can't get off it and uses sex to get the drug to get rid of "the headaches, the shaking" etc etc. the flames could be metaphorical for the way the drug burns you up and out. i do'nt really know, i'm just rambling. | |

| it sounds to me more like cocaine addiction- the spiders under the skin, people who are on cocaine scratch themselves because they always itch, also it prevents sleeping, so a crack addict would be a sleepyhead who is kind of out of it due to lack of sleep. The reference to the boardroom sounds like the person is a 9-5er who isn't happy with their place in life or their job, and used drugs to escape their life. It sounds to me like the person is trying to quit- ie the withdrawal symptoms and the "Not assuming you wanna keep 'em, //I'm assuming you reckon you won't" indicates to me they think they'll sleep once they kick the habit, and they want to do so | |

| This song could be about drugs, it is a unique sounding Alkaline Trio song, and I can't make up my mind if is better than most of their songs or worse. Nothing to see here but the rain. There's nothing to hold you but the flames That's my favorite part of the whole song, it rules. | |

| this is a really good alkaline trio song. and yes, of course its talking about drugs. its pretty apparent. its the lines: "All you've been asking for's been placed in front of you. The headaches, the shaking, the boredom the boardroom brings. You're scratching at itching brought by the spiders beneath your skin." -->im almost positive hes talking about coccaine. hes been wanting to do coke, he does it and all hes been asking fors been placed in front oh him. hes itches, scratches, gets headaches there all side effects. they say when your on coke you feel like you have bugs under your skin. make sense? 1 2 Next | |
