Beat Farmers was a band formed in August 1983 that did a crossover of alternative rock and country music.
They got their first record deal with Rhino Records in 1984 and recorded Tales of the New West. The album included "Happy Boy" and was released in January 1985.
The original members were together until the recording of Van Go, after which Buddy Blue left the band and was replaced by Joey Harris who had previously worked with Country Dick in the band Country Dick and the Snuggle Bunnies.
In 1986, the song "Riverside" from Van Go got some air play and was used in a Budweiser radio commercial.
In 1991, they played the Late Night with David Letterman show in New York and Dave is made an honorary roadie.
The band stopped performing in November 1995 after Country Dick Montana had a heart attack on stage. The original members plus Joel "Bongo" Kmak are now touring as the Farmers
