play riff1 while Shannon says
"hair raising shake you're much too late
you should have jumped a couple cars before
now if i may i'll walk away
i'm selling silly putty door to door
and up on the shelf it seems to help
if i can keep a little bit of disease"
Riff 2
G - - 7 - X - - - X - - - - - - - X - - - X X - X - - repeat
D - - - - X - 9 - X - 7 / 9 7 - X - 5 - X X - X - -
(2)
"and it's feedin' on me
you see it's bringin' me to my knees"
Chorus riff
E - 17 - - - - - - - 13 - 12 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
B - - - - 15 - 17 - - - - - - - 15 - 13 - 15 - 13 - 12 - 13 - 15 - 12^13 - 12^13
G - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
(chorus)
"as we aaaall wilt
waaaatching you wilt"
then play:
E - - - - - 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - -
B - - - - - 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - -
G - - - - - - - - X - - - - - - - - - -
D - - - - - - - - X - - - - - - - - - -
A - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1 - - -
E - - 3 - - - - - - - - 1 - 3 - - - 3 -
once and return to riff 1
the bridge part goes:
D - - - X - 3 3 3 - X - - - - - - - - - -
A - - - X - - - - - X 1 - 1 - 3 - - - - - and repeat
E - 3 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1 1 1 -
the solo is a bunch of E-bow slides and stuff, uncharacteristicly simple for
Blind Melon, because they usually have a fast complex solo in there
somewhere, and anyway it probably won't sound right if you are like me and
don't have an E-bow, so I'm-a-leavin' it out, but here's the other guitar's part
during the solo:
G - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
D - 3 - - - - - - - - - - X - 3 - - - 3 - - - - - - - - - - - X - - - 1 - +repeat
A - - - - - - - - - - - - X - - - - - - - 1 - 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 - X - 3 - - -
E - - 1 - 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
There's probably some small stuff missing in this transcription, but you can
probably figure it out on your own if you listen close.
"May Shannon Hoon's spirit rest in peace forevermore, and let the beauty
that is Blind Melon shine down on all the good people of Earth and fill them
with it's glorious cosmic energy." - oath of the Devout Melonhead
