I first heard this song on youtube, from a clip on the Monkees TV show. I wanted to
it but I couldn't find a decent enough tab, so I did it myself. This is my first tab, so I
apriciate some feed back and possibly some of the picking patterns.
Email me at gazzaday@aol.com if you have any suggestions about this tab.
Thanks

| touching track, the actual symbolism and lyrical content is derived directly from Homer's book the Odessey. But it's really a matter of unresponded love. It is also one of the most covered/remade/remixed songs ever. | |

| It is a great song. Simple but full of emotion. I would have loved to hear Jeff Buckley sing this song. He wasn't in the habit of doing his fathers stuff to often though. | |

| i heard james yorkston's version and thought it was good then found out it was a tim buckley song, listened to it and....... WOW!!! so much emotion. we can all relate aswell. who hasnt been lured on to the rocks by a beautiful siren, left there and then begged for a second chance. its about falling for someone who doesn't reciprocate the emotion, maybe feeling used at the end of it all. | |

| If he is performing the wails in the background then "WOW!". Such an amazing voice with range and depth. It's a beutiful song that just oozes from his voice with emotion. | |

| Great song and agree with most of what's been said previous. Will say the lyrics 'Were you here when I was full sail?' should be 'Were you hare when I was fox?' Stu. | |

| Best ballad ever written. Tim's really emotional singing of it makes it one of my favourite songs of all time. First discovered it after downloading This Mortal Coil's cover of it from the Lost Highway soundtrack. Good cover but nothing compares to Tim's voice. | |

| He did the wailing thing. I mean, it did sound like him. What a vocal experiment! I took a lot of listenings to sink in. And I thank God when I finally did. | |

| In greek mythology sirens are female deities who draws ships to shipwreck. I think this song closely relates to this mythology. Tim makes it sound so mystical and this is a one well written song. | |

| the This Mortal Coil version was used in a commercial! Thank God I forget the product (and PLEASE no one repost and remind me!). I was so sad. such a beautiful song commercialized! Such is the world. Um, dare I say the TMC version is better than Tim's, at great as his is? Yeah, I dare say it :) | |

| The real magic of the song is in those last two lines. Singing to the siren who enticed him and broke him, the sailor becomes a siren himself, enticing her to swim out and return to him. Breathtakingly perfect. | |
