Of course the Stones version of the song is going to be better, it's the original. This is an okay cover, I think. Nothing special though..

Yes, yes... this song is wonderful. I was scared that alot of people would be all negitive about it and I'd be in here talking about how great she sounds. I never thought that she could do a Jagger song but she really belted it out with enough emotion and (of course) a wonderful voice. I think this one is what the radio should be playing more of. It's great. :D

This is one of the finest covers I've ever heard. Most covers are lame, but she did a superb job in re-creating the Stones' classic. It is one of my favorites ^_^ I wish they'd make a video for this one :X

best cover of a song i've heard. she's incredibly talented and i definitely don't see her as simply a pop singer. i don't see this song as dark at all, but if it seems so to anyone, that's good. there's nothing wrong with a little darkness. good song from keith, and vanessa sings it well. she has great taste.

The song was written about trying to get over drugs and things. IT IS NOT about Vietnam, this is a Jagger/Richards song, they weren't into that at the time it was written. Depression/drugs/death of a loved one. (One of the stones' girlfreinds died about the time it was written, can't remember which). The Stones version is much better than Vanessa Carlton's, of course, that goes without saying, but she has had a good try at it, bless her. It's not the same without the sitar, the Stones just make it what it is, and that's all it can ever be. Her version is better than the terrible U2 version, which doesnt feature the opening sitar solo or the bolero rhythm at the end - the essence of the song.

I have to say I heard this version of the song first, but I did listen to the original after. I LOVE Vanessa Carlton's cover so much better! The drums and background music and even how she sings it a little bit slower. I'm a dancer and after listening to tons of songs I really think this is one of the BEST songs to just get up and dance to. It's so INTENSE and I love how Vanessa puts so much passion into singing it. Just listening to the song you can tell she does. I love it =)

This song was remade VERY well. I don't like the lyrics, though. It's honest to the point, and that's the plus, but it's also very negative and just....depressing. I mean, someone sees the beauty of the world and wants it to go away because they feel like crap. I think we've all been there, but good grief...

The song is angsty and dark because the meaning is. The line of black cars and her love who'll never come back is a reference to the singers beloved who died. The black cars are for the funeral. The red door she wants painted black? Red is the color of passion and the color of blood- life. The girls in summer clothes are too bright and alive for her to bear to look at. The singer's in so much angry pain from the death of the beloved that bright signs of life simply add to the pain. Surely I'm not the only one to have lost someone and wondered why it wasn't like the movies where the birds cease their cheery chirping and the clouds block out the sun and the sky weeps.

She did a incredible cover, I adore it. The original os, of course, amazing. But I listen to this one more, i'm alos a big fan of Vanessa Carlton, though. I met her a carnival. She was really friendly, and almost a little shy. She signed stuff for my friend and me. Some people recruited me to sing in there little band a while back, its been a awsome experiance, but anyways. We hardly have one practice without me having them play this song just so I can rock out and sing it. And I deffinitly always sing it more like Vanessa Carltons cover then the original.

I think this cover is ok, but the Stones virsion was better because they felt the song better. When you hear Venessa singing it, she kind of sounds unsure about the song. But the original is way better. \\//Peace

This song is awesome. I just love it when she starts rocking out. Awesome. Sometimes we all have days like this and I think it is important that she showed this side of her, even if it is through someone else's lyrics.

Some people say her version is too dark, but personally I think it is a great cover. In some ways, I even like her version better because you can understand her singing better than Mick's.

This is the song that turned me into a Vanessa Carlton fan... one day I was at a thrift store looking at 100-year-old CDs by people I didn't even know and then Vanessa Carlton caught my eye (mostly because my name is Vanessa too) so I bought it thinking it probably wouldn't work and if it did I wouldn't like it.... WRONG about both. I heard this song and fell in love with it. Then I was listening to the radio and heard the original version. Now I feel I must become famous for the soul reason of singing this song. WHAT IT MEANS TO ME- A very important person in my life is dead. It's not a lover, but it is someone I love and in reality when those "summer girls" walk by I DO turn my head because they are usually the root of a little "darkness" (their show ofhatred toward people like me). Oh and one time I was listening to this song in the car and actually seen a line of black cars on the side of the road. It was a little creepy.

Just to set things straight. This song IS NOT about having a bad day. It's NOT about breaking a nail...although Vanessa Carlton may have thought so. This song is about WAR and DEATH. It's about Vietnam and Vanessa Carlton does a shitty remake. I am disgusted.
