I like claptons version more becayse of the background vocals. The Bob Marley versions background vocals were just too abrasive...

I wouldn't say Clapton's rocks more because his version has a slower tempo and the vocal approach is rather suttle. But I see what you mean when you compare it to Bob's. Both versions are spectacular but Marley's voice is too soothing to say Clapton's is better.

yea marleys did sound better but clapton did a great job covering it

Nah I think Clapton's is better. Marley's is good too but it just "sounds" older, not as well-produced. Of course you have to give credit to the songwriter, but I think Claptons "rocks" more. My 2 cents.
