Damn Yankees Biography

Band Picture

Damn Yankees consists of Jack Blades (bass, vocals), Michael Cartellone (drums), Ted Nugent (guitar), Tommy Shaw (guitar, vocals).

Damn Yankees was an American rock supergroup, formed in 1989, consisting of Jack Blades ( Night Ranger), Tommy Shaw ( Styx), Ted Nugent and drummer Michael Cartellone. The band is presumably named for the musical of the same name, though Nugent once explained that he coined the name because whenever someone asked him how he and Tommy Shaw would sound like playing together, he would always reply by saying they would sound like "a bunch of damn Yankees."

The band went double-platinum on their self-titled debut album. The album included the hit singles “Comin’ of Age,” the self-titled “Damn Yankees” and the chart-topping rock ballad “High Enough.” High Enough happened to be the first number 1 best selling single in Ted Nugent's career. After the release of the album, the Damn Yankees went on a year and a half world tour. In 1992, Damn Yankees went platinum with the album Don’t Tread On Me. The title song of the album received extensive coverage at the Barcelona Olympic Games. Don’t Tread On Me wasn’t as big of a hit as the first album, but came out with such hits as the title-track “Don’t Tread On Me,” “Mister Please,” “Where You Goin’ Now” and “The Silence Is Broken.” This article on a United States rock music band is a stub.
