Day, Howie She Says Guitar Tab

Keep in mind that Howie Day uses a very unique strumming pattern, and you need to
listen the song to get it right. Try doing some hammer ons when switching between
Cadd9 to C Cmaj7, and from Asus2 to Am to Asus4. I think Howie uses them (depending
on which version of "She Says" you are listening to.) For the chorus, the chords
are placed roughly the word that you should be singing when you hit them, but it's
not perfect.
Good Luck!

Verse One:
Sweet is the sight
Of her room
Window open by candlelight
How would you know?
Cold winter on the shore
Chills the dress she wore
It's on the floor
Still it feels so warm...today
Pre-Chorus:(start by still strumming the last C from verse 1)
F G C Am
And that's why I'm wondering why you had to tell me
F G C Am F
What's going on in her head, what's wrong,
G C Am F G Am
Come around to another time when you don't have to run
Chorus:
F G
And when she says she wants somebody else
C Am
I hope you know that she doesn't mean you and
F G
When she breaks down and makes a sound
C Am
You'll never hear her the way that I do
F G
And when she says she wants someone to love
C Am
I hope you know that she doesn't mean you
F G
And when she breaks down and lets you down
C Am
I hope you know she doesn't mean you
Outro: (back to verse)
Em F C Em F --> Begin Verse
Verse Two:
Swing into flight
Over hills...
Over her hills, it's twilight
Yeah, I guess that's right now
While were here
Tell me why it's so funny
That you're so funny when you're mad
Always so mad...so mad
*Chorus*
Interlude: (after second chorus)
Em F
Yeah and I don't know where
G Am
Come and find me
Em F
I don't know what
G Am
We're coming to and
Em F
I don't know what
G Am
It means to me and
Em F
You don't know what
G Am --> --> (strum once each) --> Em F
It means to you
(Howie moans and mumbles a bit after the last line of the interlude, and he continutes
the Em F G Am sequence, but I didn't include that.)
**Then Howie wraps it up with the intro one more time**

my take on this song is that he is singing to himself. he knows so much about her as this best friend figure, but everything she wants in someone isnt goin to be him. This seems to be obvious general theme, as the last verse and bridge implies. i see the first verse as a reminiscent dream. the 2nd person narrative switches direction between himself(chorus, first stanza) and her(bridge, last verse) 'cause it's mad, so mad...

"and that's why i'm wondering why you had to tell me what's going on in your head what's wrong come around to another time when you don't have to run" does anyone else think this sounds like the chorus to dave matthews band's "crush"?

he's saying he's still in love with this girl.. and they have a connection that no one else will have.. no matter who she's with he's still the one. "cold winter on the shore chills the dress she wore it's on the floor still it feels so warm today"

I inturpreted this song to be about two guy friends, who are both interested in the same lady. She obviously tells one of them exactly how she is feeling, and when the second guy makes his move his friend knows that it isn't him she wants. However, this close guy friend know that she only sees him as a friend. The part about "mad" I'm not completely clear on. But I think it means that she deserves to be mad for not seeing what is in front of her. And the last line is how the whole situation is unfair. 1 2 3 Next

i definately think this is about a best guy friend saying this to some guy that's trying to date this girl. it's just confusing because it goes back and forth from him telling this to some other guy and him talking to himself. very powerful song. i like it

I'm writing a teleplay (www.madetobebroken.com) and this song fits perfect for one scene... a girl is desperately missing her boyfriend who she can't see anymore, and another guy wants so badly to be with the girl, and she has a breakdown in the guy's arms but she doesn't know how he's in love with her... it's so sweet and perfect and tragic and I love it. I just saw Howie Day in concert, opening for the Goo Goo Dolls, and he was unbelievably fantastic. So emotional and powerful.

when i hear this song i see an ex boyfriend who's not yet over his ex girlfriend and she's moved on. she's with this new boy, and the ex boyfriend is jealous, and upset, and he's singing this to her new boyfriend; saying he'll never love her as much as he does. this song is so beautiful and perfect.
