| According to various sources, the song is a compilation of various poems and just general writing from his sister's diary, while she institutionalized. | |

| As far as I was aware, Elizabeth wasn't actually his sister, as it were. She was someone who he grew up with in the orphanage and therefore was probably like a sister but was actually just a friend. I think there have also been rumours about a romantic involvement between E and her at some point but he apparantly won't mention anything to do with it. I like Malformation's idea but I can't see this song as anything other than one of the most negative and depressing songs I've ever heard. | |

| Scrap that, further research (I have nothing better to do) has shown me that she was actually his sister and that he had a mum so possibly, just possibly, wasn't an orphan. | |

| To those who say that this is only about a suicide attempt: Then how do you explain the line... "Kitty licks my cheek once more"...? Is that only part of her mindset, feeling that this is it, this is the end, and she's experiencing her last moments of consciousness? | |

| DuctTape, I think that line is fairly literal. Elizabeth has just tried to commit suicide, but obviously the cat doesn't know what that means, so it's just licking her face, trying to wake her up. So she's not dead (supporting the failed attempt interpretation) because she feels the cat's tongue, which leads into the next few lines in that verse about not wanting to be woken up (ever). | |

| I didn't know any of that. I found it strangely uplifting even though it was obviously a sad song.It just kept playing over and over in my head for three days. It was really odd. I had just assumed it was the heroin overdose of a dear friend of his. The music in contrast to the words seems soaring and peaceful. I like it. 1 | |

| Actually I read somewhere that this song is a reference to a previous, unsuccessful suicide attempt by his sister, Elizabeth. | |

| i like to think of this song more positively than all of that. the tone of it is really hopeless and depressing but i read that this song is about one of elizabeth's suicide attempts that failed. so although at the time she feels like she can never wake up again she does. granted, she later really does commit suicide but i find it interesting that E chose to write about this particular attempt when it wasn't when she died. | |

| no, zeeboi's right, this is about his sister, he wrote the whole album when his sister and his mother and someone else he was close to died. he also wrote Daisies Of The Galaxy at the same time because he thought that this album was too sad and he wanted to write something happy also. he just waited a bit to release it. | |
