| this song is rlly sad although it rocks big time. it reminds me of the time when i was in bed tryin to sleep but i couldn't cus I was so sad for havin to move and leave my friends. and there comes the part when every one is tellin u to just let go. let go of the sadness and fears but it is easier to say it than to actually do it. it rlly fits the scene when Shrek stares out of the window at nite cus he can't sleep. | |

| Actually, the singer of Eels, "Mr E", lost his father when he was 19. 1996, his sister committed suicide, and two years later his mother died in cancer. So, Iīm quite sure this song is about the great lost of his family, and that everybody keeps telling him to realize they wonīt come back and that he must move on without them. In second verse he sings, "time to put the old horse down" and probably realizes that itīs time for him to get a grip and live along without them. Think itīs "I need some sleep, you canīt go on like this" in the beginning of the song, and not "you canīt go home like this"... I really like this song, I lost my father a few years ago and kinda know what itīs like when you canīt understand that you wonīt ever see that person again. | |

| lol, i heard this song the first time on shrek 2 too. simply stated, it's about someone who can't sleep because of one problem. This one pronlem gives them so much mental strain that they can't go to sleep. So this person is saying they have to let it go. Also, sleep may not signify physical sleep. It may signify rest as in rest from a problem | |
