Verse : Am Em F C
Chorus : Am Em F C
Am Em F G
I need some sleep
You can't go home like this
I try counting sheep
But there's one I always miss
Everyone says I'm getting down to low
Everyone says, "You just gotta let it go"
You just gotta let it go
You just gotta let it go
I need some sleep time to put the old horse down
I'm in too deep and the wheels keep spinning round
Everyone says I'm getting down to low
Everyone says, "You just gotta let it go"
You just gotta let it go
You just gotta let it go
You just gotta let it go
You just gotta let it go
You just gotta let it go

| anyone ever try the rubberband therapy thing?? you put a rubberband around your wrist and everytime you say/do/think something that you're not supposed to you pull the rubberband and let it go? that's what i'm doing right now. it really reminds me of this song because of the whole, "you just gotta let it go." i have all these friends telling me that i just have to let something/someone go, and i'm even telling myself this, but i just cant... rubberband. so anyway. this song to me is definately about that someone/something you just can't seem to get out of your thoughts... sleep and (in my case) rubberband therapy might help... | |

| this song was specifically written for shrek 2 and that scene where he cant sleep because of the fight he wrote it when he was jet lagged hence the need for sleep notice it also ties into the music box clever eh? and also i think ull find the lyrics are: "I need some sleep It can't go on like this" not "home like this" there off the official website | |

| I think someone in the Shrek crew must be a fan of the Eels, their surprisingly upbeat Beloved Monster was in the first film. This is a great song, simple, enchanting and passionate. I listen to it a lot when I get sick of yr12 homework | |

| The song is about missing someone. That's why he can't sleep. The double meaning of the fourth line "but there's one I always miss" is absolute genius: He's being both literal (miscounting sheep) and allegorical ('there's one person, some-one, I always miss'). He's getting down too low from obsessively thinking about it and he can't let it go. Hence why it would be in Shrek -- its when the ogre's off on his own, thinking about his wife. I hadn't thought of it, but I also really like the masturbation interpretation. Perhaps he's getting horny thinking about this girl? | |

| This is a great song. I first heard it while watching "Shrek 2" and I was like "this has to be the Eels." I was right. | |

| Trying to fix a problem, but can't. "I need some sleep time to put the old horse down I’m in too deep and the wheels keep spinning round" Metaphor here: You get your car stuck in mud and you try to get it out and you keep trying but your wheels are just digging you in further... That's why he needs sleep, he needs rest from trying to solve this problem. Its also a metaphor. | |
