| To me it's about figuring out what to do with yourself after being in a relationship. Finding yourself on your own again. Sunday afternoon is usually when we have the most time on our hands and if you don't have anything to do but sit around and dwell on the past it can get pretty depressing. | |

| i think it's about missing someone dead. he will be the same when his girlfriend comes back or he goes there. also, he said that "she [his wife] only thinks I wrote two good songs, "it's a motherfucker" and "fresh feeling", and one of them is about her." i'm inclined to believe that "fresh feeling" is about the wife, and also, imagine him hangin out with mom on a sunday, and now he's all sad cos she's gone. of course he does say "just me again" like whoever he's singin to came into his life and then dissapeared again. but as for me, i first listened to this song right after i talked to this girl who i really cared a lot about and i really felt like she didn't care about me at all and she lived far away and i was driving home listening to it. it was the sweetest pain in the world, it was like, she had killed me and left me alive to know it, and that was a good thing. :) | |

| A lot of eels songs have the "My love for you is like a pussing wound," sort of sound, even. My Beloved Monster is one. Ah, I continue to reminisce: Has anyone ever read Catch-22? I'm in the middle of it, and Heller writes about these characters "negatively." He doesn't describe them with what they DO, but it's what they DON'T DO that make them individual characters. For instance, Yossarian was thinking about the Captian's Club (I believe it was called), and he was proud for all the work that he DIDN'T put into it. That's the sort of feeling I get from Eel's love songs. 1 | |

| If i remember correctly, the song is to his sister who commited suicide when he was writing the album. Of course it's open to interpitation of how it makes you feel. It's very beautiful and it's been comforting for me in the wake of my best friend's death. | |
