Eisley-Memories
Gm Cm
He was throwing grain into the ground below, ground below
Gm Cm
With dreary circles of his arm, going slow, very slow
Gm Bb
His cap pulled down roun' his ears to
Gm Bb
hide the smile and watery tears
C
My loving wife is so wonderful
how small seeds gracefully to grow
F C
into beautiful things that spring from these rows
F C
With their musical names and musical sound
Gm Cm
Dreary birds parade across the dreary sky, but down below
Gm Cm
the woman absent mindedly begins to sow, how she sows the
Gm Bb
seeds her husband loved so much, but
Gm Bb
he's no longer here with us
C
But her life is so beautiful
as memories continue to grow
F C
into beautiful things that spring from these rows
F C
With their musical names and musical sound
F C
Beautiful things that spring from these rows
F C
with their musical names and musical sounds, and musical sounds
Am
Distant tho I am
orange, gold, and green
firing, flaming, colors surround me
I'm always wondering where you are.
I'm always wondering where you are.
F
Darling shouldn't I be the one
Wondering after all I am the one who is gone
Am
I'm always wondering where you are.
I'm always wondering where you are.
F
Darling shouldn't I be the one
Wondering after all I am the one who is gone
Am
I'm always wondering.
F
I was just wondering.
Am
I was just wondering.
F
I'm the one...who is gone, who is gone
F C
But, there's beautiful things that spring from these rows
F C
With their musical names, and musical sounds, usical sounds

Actually, scatterbra1n, they did spell "sow" correctly. It means to scatter seeds on the ground for growing. Anyways, this song is beautiful. Eisley is great.

Eisley fans, don't get pissed at me for saying this... I conclude by saying: "What the hell, Eisley?!"

Aye. I love this song. I can't help but sing when I hear it. My sister and I always sing the conversation (thats what I call the "Distant, though, I am, orange, gold, and green...." and so-forth part of the song), she does Sherri's vocals and I do Stacy's, because I guess my voice is lower than her's. Of course we don't do it as beautifully as them...

yeah, scatterbra1n, the form of "sow" used here is correct. anyway, I couldn't believe they were from Tyler either, because I'm from Palestine. If you think Tyler is crappy, try Palestine. We had to go to Tyler to find anything fun to do. Anyway, when I met them a few months ago at a show it was great and obvious where they were from because they're so friendly and just... really nice. Genuinely good people. Bah, I'm still star-struck. Completely.

i think it's about two groups of people. the first being the man sowing seeds thinking about his family and how amazing and prosperous they are. the second being the widow looking back and even though it's sad she's realizing that the seeds her and her husband sowed are prospering too.

Oy, the person who submitted the lyrics spelled sew wrong. Anyway, this song is absolutely beautiful, I think it's perfect as the first song on Room Noises. I can't believe they're from Tyler, Texas. Since I live in Texas, it's just hard to imagine such an amazing band that comes from such a crappy town.

I can see where imnotSxEx gets the idea of the widowed wife. I can see that now. Not a bad idea. This was the first song I heard by Eisley, simply because a friend of mine had it playing in the background during our phone conversation. I'm so glad she played it! She let me borrow the CD, and I went out and bought one the next day for myself. It's just such an awesome band! With that said, we were talking about what it may mean. She said she thought the husband and wife got a divorce and the "seeds she sows" were the children. "he's no longer here with us" being that he no longer lives with them. So, she thought maybe they were singing from personal experience. From what I've read though in the last 2 days that I've known about them, it seems that their parents are together with no troubles. I for one love that there could be so many different meanings. Their songs are just so mystical and magical! I wish I heard of them sooner!

Total agreement here. I think they may be telling the story from nature's point of view, as well.

I think it is about a now widowed wife who at some point begins talking to her late husband. At this part Sherri and Stacy explain it. "I'm always wondering where you are" shes wondering where her husband is now, and would like to see and talk to him. "Darling, shouldnt I be the one wondering after all I'm the one who is gone" hes now gone, and he would like to know why he isnt with his wife (even though he does understand why), since its not with her. The vocals at this part of the song are just amazing, I love the build up, and how after it, its just Piano, Sherri, and Stacy. And Chautelle's guitar during Sherri's vocals is perfect. The contrast helps explain the story. Sherri (who represents the wife) has Chauntell's powerful guitar to explain the panic of not having her husband, and her voice is higher and more aggresive, showing her pain. Stacy, representing the late husband, is calmer, although he still wishes to be with his wife, he does accept he has moved on, and thats why her voice is calmer.

I think this song is about a old man who was a farmer and really cared for his plants died then His wife seemed so loneyly with out him but Her life is still so wonderful and the seeds her husben planted were still growing. And at the part were stacy and sherri are sing "Im always wondering where you are" Is the words of his wife wondering about the man and the man replies back with "darling shouldnt i be the one wondering after Im the one who is gone"

love this song. I think the husband died and he was a farmer or something used to plant seeds. After he died, his wife kept planting them in his memory and they kept growing with her love for him. The seeds that frow may also symbolize their children and memories for eachother (well of course). I think the husband went to hell because of the part where his wife and him are talking to eachother and she says "I'm always wondering where you are ..." and he says "Distant though I am orange, gold, and green firing, flaming, colors surround me" ...firing, flaming kind of made me think of hell. Maybe he commited suicide or some type of sin which made him go there? I dunno just a thought. Anyway, I love this song and I love Eisley!!! 1

Such a sad and beautiful song. It has made me cry numerous times. I always thought the lyrics were really simple. It is about an old couple, and the man loves gardening so much that it makes him cry. He dies, and the wife continues to take care of his garden. But "memories continue to grow," with every new sprout that pop ups. Then the last paragraph is about her talking to him and "wondering where you are," and he says "Darling, shouldn't I be the one wondering, after all I'm the one who is gone."

This song is so beautiful, the bridge is amazing. "i'm always wondering where you are...". Sherri and Stacy make my heart stop. I think this song is about a marriage that has grown in to something beautiful over time. The widowed wife is looking back and realizing that. I could be wrong. Eisley is going to be huge when their full length comes out in Early 2005. I guarantee it.
