This was my first favorite ELO song (although, I also grew to love "Telephone Line" and "Sweet Talkin' Woman").

I think this song is definitely about a relationship (say, girlfriend/boyfriend, but could also apply to regular friendship) in which one person (the singer) is constantly put down / made to feel less significant by the other person (being sung to), who always leaves them behind. My rationale for the friendship idea is that many friendships with "two-faced" people can relate to this song perfectly. As for non-orchestral content, I think it's good. The only ELO songs that I like are the ones featuring restrained or no "orchestra-type" instruments...ie. this song, Four Little Diamonds, Do Ya...all of these songs do feature that type of instrument, but much less significantly than they're earlier hits. 1

I never knew this was ELO until I recognized the voice. The lack of orchestral instruments really threw me off.

I've listened to just about every track ELO ever made. My all-time favorite band has brought me countless hours of joy over the years, but this tune, in my opinion, ranks near the bottom. One way I rank songs is by how many times I can listen to them before they grow tiresome. This one was getting old after the first couple of listens. Want to hear a great ELO tune? Try: "The Stranger" or "Birmingham Blues"

This is by far my least favorite ELO song. The whole reason I gravitated towards them was the orchestra, and this song doesn't have any. I think it's their ONLY song without orchestra, but there's a fairly large chance I'm wrong.

Kick ass song ELO is a damn good band anyways the song is about how this girl is fooling around and the guy has heard enough of it so he says to the girl Don't Bring Me Down with your bullshit.
