this song is beautiful in this the singer remembers all the wonderful time he shared in a relationship. but now it's over and he has to leave. it gets complicated towards the end though...i'm not sure....

This is an amazingly beautiful song. I love it deeply. I've sort-of had an experience with it myself, a love that I keep going back to. Sort-of off and on relationships that are so vibrant and real when they happen, it's like you want to be together forever. But they break. For some reason you just keep coming back to each other. I also think it's about making the person finally choose. "This is tomorrow, take it or leave it." I think it's about making the person choose whether they want to be with you or not, and stop leaving you in the grey. And I think the last few lines, "I can't stay here, you can't ask me just so you would know" are about love - you can't keep somebody waiting, and you can't leave them hanging just so you would be comforted by always knowing they love you. It's supposed to be a mutual thing. But hey..what do I know? Lyrics are so hard to interpret sometimes.

ok here's my opinion, don't trust me, what do i know anyway "empty diaries we have nothing to say and we'll take the right steps to keep these pages clean you want the answers and I see them on your face you need to know this is where the promise breaks" this could mean they've had a sexual encounter " this is where the promise breaks" christinans usually make promisis to abstain from sex until marriage that would make sense this song could be about wanting to be with this girl so bad but knowing its just not right and holding back but knowing if you stay you wont be able to hold back anymore "from holding back (i want) but know that this won't be forever (you for all my days, but tonight...)" i don't know, maybe

As a friend of a member of Emery, here is my take on this song. It's all about memories, memories of a relationship that had poor communication, but still holding the desire to make it work. However, also knowing that sometimes, it doesn't take words to express yourself. Sometimes you just see the look on someone's face and know what they're feeling and thinking. Yes there's more to it on a personal lever for Toby..but I'm leaving it at that.

ok, well the ending is awsome....its what i felt when i was with my x chick, i think it is about sex, "i know (i know) if you stay (if you stay) this will be (this will) ours to take (be ours to take)" our mind (flesh) is the regular words, while our inner couscience (spirit) is the words in the ( ). So in this first verse they both agree that if she stays "sex" will "be ours to take" Then it says: "inside i (i feel) am overwhelmed (so good) from holding back (i want) but know that this won't be forever (you for all my days, but tonight...)" now both (mind and spirit) come in a disagreement (actually more like different opinions) mind (feels lust): it feels overwhelmed (excited, full of emothion) and it cant hold back, but it knows that it wont be forever (lustful sex dies in time) spirit (commitment; but doubts its the right person): feels so good to be with her all his days, but tonight... They both come back to one agreement and both made a decision to leave that she couldnt convince otherwise, and he's just letting her know: "i can't stay here you can't ask me just so you would know" Whats so awsome about it is that he presents a light of hope of having this sexual realtionship with her, then at the end he's like, NO! Laters. lol...EMERY IS ROCKS!
