Intro: CAPO 1!
C F G C
Though I walk through
Warm sands in Africa
Winds will grow soon
To storms in Africa.
F G Bm
How far to go
F G C
I cannot say.
F G Bm
How many more
F G C
Will journey this way?
Dark skies fall on
Black earth and ivory.
Far from your sun
Clouds now close over me
How far to go
I cannot say.
How many more
Will journey this way?
Storms have come!
Rains wash the earth away
Dark skies fall down
Into another day.
Rains have now come
From storms in Africa
Time will go on
Through Storms in Africa

| well i think this song is absolutely beautiful, whatever it means, though thankyou for the translation :) does it always matter what the meaning is though? though i tend to want to know i just love the beauty of this song, i think its really amazing. and enya is so good at capturing a feeling, this is what a storm in africa would sound like if you put it in music. | |

| She also lives in Ireland doesn't she? Therefore, no one here should care whether she speaks english or not. If she was an immigrant, I could understand the protests against other languages, but she isn't one, so it doesn't matter. She sings beautifully in any language and that's all that matters. | |

| she is not from this country, therefore, she just MIGHT speak a different language, i think enya is polylingual, so she speaks many different things. I know, I know, speak english! but, still its a very beautiful song, and Gaelic is a beautiful language, and Enya's music is one that is relaxing. that is a really stupid thing to be fighting about, so, just relax, and 'daz spaz' that is a beautiful translation, thank you so much | |

| Gaelic is the ancient language of the Celts, a barbaric but artistic people that occupied nearly all of Europe at their peak. not only does Enya (who is from Ireland) sing in this beautiful language, but she also sings in Latin and French and, of course, English. i cannot translate this. i don't know Gaelic as well as i should. regardless, music is universal, and so language barriers do not matter to me. Enya's music, in any language, is gorgeous. there are several people who will agree. | |

| I think Enya is talking about the sufferings of the people in Africa...with the poverty, apartheid, starvation, and disease-ridden lands....these people are suffering, and she is giving them words of hope. what a beautiful message of hope and peace.... | |
