This song reminds me of the apocalypse... you hear the sounds of a third carried out (in the bible i think the world is killed in thirds or something) we see the stones falling from the sky on fire (asteroids?) it's just a guess

I think that they said that 'There's no sympathy for the dead' means that bands that have 'died' (as in, people stopped listening to them and they became unpopular) over the years don't get any sympathy. I don't know, though. I'm not positively sure. Anyways, I love this song. These guys are amazing. Seriously, they're gonna be HUGE. :]

Not even man. sreidc hit the nail RIGHT on the head. I could pull out like ten different quotes, but this song is DEFINITELY about the fact that these guys plan to make it big, and they know that no one has sympathy for dead or unknown bands. Basically, they're escaping that fate. dun dun duuuun? XD

I think in their biography it said it was about making use of the chances you have when you have them or something, like that was the bands main concept, with the band name and album title, i dont know if im remembering it exactly, but the apocolypse theory could be correct too. love this band so much.

Oh my god I have the remedy for love I struck the glass and broke the bones inside my fist but I'm ok I cannot change you, you'll never change I never would expect to break this in the end (((He is a zombie and he is looking in at his love who is not infected. He breaks the glass of a window trying to get to get to her, but he knows she would never willingly become an undead now should he expect her to))) Something so profound something you won't expect Take this scripture like a picture and wear it around your neck The sky it opens up don't get swallowed by the flames What's mine is yours and yours is mine so take me away You hear the sounds they're carried out (((People arent going to expect the living to rise again and the only salvation from the plague is the "scripture". The sky opening up is just refering to this being the end times. His heart is hers and hers is his. The sounds are the moans of the dead, carried out are the living about to be eaten))) There's no sympathy for the dead It swells and I was never the same There's no sympathy for the dead We dance like zombies do in the middle of the rain (((His original bite became infected and swelled turning him into a zombie. No one has an sympathy fdor those who have turned because they are saving their own ass. He mentions zombies just to give you a springboard for the meaning of the song.))) We see the stones falling from the sky on fire The blinding light beaming from your eyes our desire Life has died yet we're still alive and down below A sea of damned crashing like a tidal wave (((This is before he has turned. The building they took refuge in is on fire and collapsing around them. Or possibly the hundered thousand wings falling from sky are planes dropping ordinance on the city. She looks at her love and sees his eyes turning the murky gray of the infected. He turns and his life passes but hes still "alive". Down below are the leagions of undead storming the building for the taste of living flesh))) I can't breathe wake up from this nightmare that I'm in Dive into a holy river and wash away my sins As I reach sanctified the surface of the water now I will breathe and burn out my eyes (((He leaps from the building into the sea of damned and he cant breath because he is not alive nor is he undead. As he reaches the masses he is "transformed" as his sins wash away. He stands and opens his eyes. They are blank like that of the undead))) So take the medicines to quench the pain we have And walk until the end until you've reached the sand (((The pain of the love they cannot have because she is alive and he is undead. He wants her to take her life and join him. Similar to romeo and juliet in a sense? Hmmmmm? Walk until the end because undeath is eternal.))) A hundred thousand wings soaring through the sky At intense speeds we can't catch with our eyes You hear the sounds of a third carried out Just wait you hesitate (((Planes are soaring through the sky. Possibly to try to quell the infection. I have the remedy to the poisonous kiss I struck the glass it shatters bones in my fist (((This is back at the begining of the song. The poisonous kiss is the bite of the zombie. The only remedy is death itself. The window shatters)))

Okay. Plenty of people have already shown evidence for this, but There's No Sympathy For The Dead is about Judgement day, as in the end of the world according to the bible. No Sympathy for the Dead? Come on. That obviously means that God will have no sympathy for those who deserve eternal punishment. It talks about a scripture. The Sky opens up? Flames? You can't wake up from the nightmare of the end of the world. A holy River? Surface of the water? He's talking about being baptized. There is no doubt that's what this song is about. Plus. As backup of them being Christians. None of their songs have cursing. And in the demo version of Chariot of fire he says Hallelujah.

I'm not too familiar with the lyrics but I love the arrangement quite at the end of the song: "I have the remedy..." and on top of this all the guitars and stuff. That's great! What a final!

I thinkk that this is about the end... (take this scripture, like a picture, wear it around your neck)- like..reffering to wat it says in the bible about the end times, telling u to believe wat it says?? maybe... (the sky it opens up, dont get swallowed by the flames) - thats like...yea, pretty much the world coming to an end (there's no sympathy for the dead) - maybe this means dead, as in, people who are damned to eternal death in hell. God will have no sympathy for them and will save only those who follow him. (life has died yet we're still alive) - life on earth has gone, but we're still alive, (we being those who go to heaven) (and down below, a sea of damned crashing like a tidle wave) - the people who are damned to hell are being killed all over the earth. from the perspective of someone in heaven? looking down at earth? (i dive into a holy river and wash away my sins) - maybe this is someone who is getting rid of their sins, so they can go to heaven...

Obviously about being forgotten as a band and frustration but we all have the idea Oh my god I have the remedy for love (remedy for love, remedy of temptation) I struck the glass and broke the bones inside my fist but I'm ok (frustration with being a band and not making it, punching something to release angry, 'but i'm okay' it let it out') I cannot change you, you'll never change I never would expect to break this in the end (changing fans minds about their music, then becoming a sucsess, making a big 'break') Something so profound something you won't expect Take this scripture like a picture and wear it around your neck (take my advice, it's serious even if you haven't noticed it, no one is around forever) The sky it opens up don't get swallowed by the flames (this is more obvious than it seems, if the sky is opening up there are no limits, 'don't get swallowed by the flames' meaning 'don't be mislead by sucsess and what comes from it' What's mine is yours and yours is mine so take me away (they are nothing if no one listens to them) You hear the sounds they're carried out (not sure) There's no sympathy for the dead (once a band is gone, they aren't remembered) It swells and I was never the same (the sucsess rises and he is changed by it) There's no sympathy for the dead We dance like zombies do in the middle of the rain We see the stones falling from the sky on fire (the vices that come from fame;the sky) The blinding light beaming from your eyes our desire (blinding light; people actually liking and enjoying their music is their desire) Life has died yet we're still alive and down below (other bands have gone under but they will stay on top,) A sea of damned crashing like a tidal wave (the fans moshing and jumping at concerts) I can't breathe wake up from this nightmare that I'm in Dive into a holy river and wash away my sins (jumping into the crowd to realize he is admired and what not) As I reach sanctified the surface of the water now I will breathe and burn out my eyes (won't believe what he is seeing but is comforted by it) So take the medicines to quench the pain we have And walk until the end until you've reached the sand (not sure) A hundred thousand wings soaring through the sky At intense speeds we can't catch with our eyes (fans flying around fast you can't see all the people you are playing for You hear the sounds of a third carried out Just wait you hesitate (screams of fans) I have the remedy to the poisonous kiss (temptation) I struck the glass it shatters bones in my fist (releasing frustration once again) hope that helps =-)!

In response to all the comments that seem to imply that they think that this song is some kind of relevation about the apocalypse; These guys are FAR from saints. Read their BIO to see what I mean. http://www.epitaph.com/artists/artist/211#albdesc I can see where you're coming from with the lyrics, but knowing what is obvious about the lead singer, I am reluctant to believe that he is bible thumping in any way. It is more likely that the song is, like morgz said, alluding to bands that 'die', as they do mention in the article, where he uses the apocalypse as a metaphor for their 'fate'. The lyrics do refer to sound as well. Just my 2 cents.
