| I love this song, and I agree that it's about being someone you don't want to ben the lyrics are a bit wrong though does anyone know how I could correct them? they are supposed to be like this (I have a scan of the inside of the Origin cover that has the lyrics) I hold my breath as this life starts to take its toll I hide behind a smile as this perfect plan unfolds But oh, God, I feel I've been lied to Lost all faith in the things I have achieved And I I've woken now to find myself In the shadows of all I have created I'm longing to be lost in you (away from this place I have made) Won't you take me away from me Crawling through this world as disease flows through my veins I look into myself, but my own heart has been changed I can't go on like this I loathe all I've become I've woken now to find myself In the shadows of all I have created I'm longing to be lost in you (away from this place I have made) Won't you take me away from me Lost in a dying world I reach for something more I have grown so weary of this lie I live I've woken now to find myself In the shadows of all I have created I'm longing to be lost in you, I... I've woken now to find myself In the shadows of all I have created I'm lost in shadows of my own I'm longing to be lost in you Away from me... | |

| Thanks a lot, SnowWhite_Cinni. Now I'm going to hear 'fuck' every time I listen to it instead of hearing 'find.' And I agree with a lot of you, most notably JessicaCaitlin91. It was creepy hearing it, because I had written a story and wanted to put song lyrics at the end, and this describes it PERFECTLY. This is one of my favorite songs in the Origin CD (I got it for my birthday) | |

| On Anywhere But Home, in the song t goes like: Try to forget you, but without you I feel nothing Don't leave me here, by myself, I can't breath Just thought I'd mention that since up at the top they don't seem to have the "Try to forget you, but without you I feel nothing" in there... just the line after that... Odd little people... | |

| Evanescence used to be a Christian band; this song is from that time period; she's singing to God and how her life feels empty and hellish without him in her life; that's all. | |

| First off, Amy is NOT a Christian, she said it herself, but David and Ben are. She wrote "October"(which is a song about God) because she felt close to God at that point, plus, she wrote it with Ben. I think this song is about not wanting to be the person you are, but wanting to be someone else. It's a pretty easy song to figure out.... | |

| This is kind of in relation to dead_snow_white's explanation, but a little different. This song makes me think about a person [Person A] who wants to be/is trying to be in a relationship with another person [Person B]. Person A and Person B are together, or trying to make it work, but Person A, for whatever reason, (probably something to do with their social life - "a thief, a whore, and a liar") is emotionally unavailable. Say they've been hurt before and are untrusting. Person B is an emotionally healthy being who is trying to cope with Person A, but Person A keeps getting worse, and ends up forcing Person B to withdraw. Person A is struggling to keep Person B and willing themselves to show Person B that they love them, but it's not working. Thus, Person B is getting "farther away" from them everytime Person A is cold and unresponsive, or "numb to you, numb and deaf and blind". Is this making any sense? So, in a nutshell, Person A is trying to fix what they've done to themselves/has been done to them emotionally and trying to be in a loving relationship with Person B, but it's not working. Person A is in a different world than Person B, and is trying to make the jump. | |

| In the bridge you left out "Tried to forget you but without you I feel nothing" I think dead_snow_white's explanation was interesting. It defenitely has something to do with a relationship. I think it's about having already gotten out of a relationship, but still loving the person, but they no longer love you back. | |

| I get confused by the bit at the start: "But, oh god, I feel I've been lied to; Lost all faith in the things I have achieved." Though throughout the song she talks about the "lie she created". Seems to me like maybe the lie was made for her, maybe (she was lied to, maybe by her parents or something, I have no idea). And she's just had to live it and she hates it. Or maybe that's just how I interpret the song, because that applies to me and my life and I see it that way. I like the lyrics whatever they mean, to be honest. I dunno, just those first few lines throw me in relation to the rest of the song. I was going to refer to the errors, but read the comments and see you already have ;-) Still, amazing song. I love their early stuff so much more than Fallen, so much more emotional to me I think. Donna x | |

| To me, this song is about a strange relationship. One of the ones where you do stuff or whatever. But never actually act like a couple, both acting like you want it that way when really only one does - the other would give anyhting to feel safe and loved by the other person, but can never voice that longing for fear of losing what they have. | |

| I love this song. I always thought it was "In the shadows of all I have created", so I thought it was about feeling like you're not as good as the person you used to be. Knowing the correct lyrics changes my thinking! I suppose it's just about hating yourself. SnowWhite Cinni - lmao! 1 2 Next | |

| I think the point they're trying to get across is that you've worked so hard to get somewhere. Then you're there and take a step back and look at what you've accomplished and suddenly it's not what you wanted at all. But you're there and now you cant change it and you wish you could...its a great song! | |

| crawling through this world as disease flows through my veins i'm looking to myself but my own heart has been changed i can't go on like this i loathe all i've become I see in these lyrics a precursor of the song "tourniqet" where the author wonders if they are too lost to be redeemed from their depravity. i've woken now to find myself in the shadows of a lie i've created i'm longing to be lost in you i've woken now to find myself i am lost in shadows of my own i'm longing to be lost in you.... away from me In the chorus the author is seeking to be free of the shackles of their evil nature, and the lies about themselves they tell the world, and be free to be alone in God. | |
