| I agree with the Christian interpretation of the song. It is someone's struggle between their sin and the guilt and Satan's trying to tell you that you will never win. On the other hand God who is forgiving above all is telling them or rather as Ben is doin, yelling at them that he loves them and is their strength and safety. I identify with this song so much b/c it is my own struggle. Mystifiedpoet, for saying you are not a christian and religious at all well you seem to identify with this song very much. Alot of people are hurt by the "Church" itself, but the church is not a building its not the group of talking heads and fake people every sunday. I am almost completely anti-organized religion but I love God bc in the dark he is the one who kept me alive | |

| to me.... at the begininng of this song it is speaking of common troubles that the devil places in our lives and the LIES he puts in our head (You will never be strong enough You will never be good enough You were never conceived in love You will not rise above ) ...and then when all feels hopeless and u have nothing left...there is God and his omnipotent power... (But through my tears breaks a blinding light Birthing a dawn to this endless night Arms outstretched awaiting me An open embrace upon a bleeding tree ) and then Satan is defeated by jesus truth.. (Rest in me and I'll comfort you I have lived and I died for you Abide in me and I vow to you I will never forsake you) ...and for any questioning...once upon a time Evanescence was a Christian based band...Amy and Ben did meet at a church camp or something of that nature......and they write My Immortal when they were only 15 years old......alot of there old music is based on there faith...look it up if u are questioning it They may not be praising God like they once did.....but that does not mean that once upon a time they didnt. | |

| It's speaking through Jesus' eyes, and Jesus (as tought in the bible) fought to die for our sins... Lies are a sin... Get it? He fought so that we would be forgiven by God for our sins. (Also not shoving religion down your throat but just explaining the biblical teachings) | |

| im not christian or religious at all, and despite that i still see this song as being about being saved by god "Bound at every limb by my shackles of fear Sealed with lies through so many tears Lost from within, pursuing the end I fight for the chance to be lied to again You will never be strong enough You will never be good enough You were never conceived in love You will not rise above" is about all the crap in the world and feeling like you'll never get anywhere "They'll never see I'll never be I'll struggle on and on to feed this hunger Burning deep inside of me " is about giving up hope in anything good ever happening "But through my tears breaks a blinding light Birthing a dawn to this endless night Arms outstretched awaiting me An open embrace upon a bleeding tree Rest in me and I'll comfort you I have lived and I died for you Abide in me and I vow to you I will never forsake you" is them discovering god and god promising to save them since im not christian i dont really believe it, but i think that is what evanescence ment when they wrote it | |

| Find them on Kazaa I think this song talks about someone in a relationship thats really only 1 way. They love, but the love isnt returned by the other person. In all probability he should split, and not hurt himself more because of her but he cant leave because he loves her too much. So hes caught between hating her, and loving her, his heart fluttering at the sight of her and at the same time burning with anger... | |

| Another great Evan.(I don't want to have to keep typing it out) song. I think there is an especially great guitar piece in the chorus. Really...I can't get a very good idea of meaning from this song. I get the impression that someone is being lied to, and it's taking a toll on them, though. | |

| While Evanesence is decidedly not a "christian band", this song is still a direct representation of Christ . The average human being is still persuaded by the lies of the devil, and then they are presented by the image of Christ, bound on the cross physically just as their spirit was bound up in pain and lies before. I am not forcing Chrisitianity upon anyone, but since the post directly before mine is a non-believer that sees the same thing I do then the song was clearly written with about an experience in life where the author lost their faith, and then found anew the face of redemption. | |

| I'm not Christian, but I kind of agree with everybody who says the song is talking about Jesus and stuff. Also, 'you were never conceived in love' could mean a child born of rape or something, something considered to be a sin. | |

| This song isn't about a relationship. This song is about Jesus... "But through my tears breaks a blinding light" Jesus was often described that way in the Bible "Arms outstretched awaiting me" Again..Same as above.. "An open embrace upon a bleeding tree" Bleeding tree = Cross Jesus was crucifed on "Rest in me and I'll comfort you I have lived and I died for you Abide in me and I vow to you I will never forsake you" Bruce from Living Sacrifice screams this part. All of these things were spoken by Jesus. If you know anything about Living Sacrifice, you know that Bruce isn't gonna scream along in a lovesong.. | |
