| The Open Door's second single. Lithium is a drug given to people to treat bi-polar disorder. | |

| there is a Nirvana song called lithium too. the following is from its wikipedia article: "The name of the song is often attributed to the metal lithium's tendency to be found in mood stabilisers such as lithium carbonate and lithium orotate; because of this the lyrics are often interpreted as describing bipolar disorder." | |

| This and Good Enough are no doubt my favorites on the new album. I agree that anyone who's dealt with depression would be able to relate to this song. Sometimes it feels a lot better and safer to stay in a dark place. You know it's not really right and you want to feel better, but at the same time, being down is what you're used to. It almost feels better NOT to feel better, as much of a contradiction as that may be. Eh, I dunno. I suck at describing things. That probably won't make any sense unless you've experienced it. :S | |

| This song holds so much meaning...story of my life "I want to stay in love with my sorrow, but oh god I want to let it go,"...I've been dealing with bipolar for so long, it feels strange to be truly happy, instead of manic or suicidal. More often than being happy, I find myself empty...so empty that I'd rather be miserable again. Evanescence is so eloquent in the way they get their point across. I adore this song. | |

| My favorite song on the album. I think anyone who deals with depression or delt with depression a lot can relate to thing song. We all have this dark place in ourselves where we go and it feels good to be there a lot of times. | |

| Something it may be important to note - Ben had/has bipolar disorder. I'm not sure that the song is actually about him though. | |

| Definitely my fave of this album, so easy to relate to. I am a little disappointed in the overall open door because of the lack of hidden meaning in the lyrics. It's sad that they didn't continue in that direction, but i love the new feel to the music. very addictive. | |
