It starts out
Chord 1
1 2
Amanda is in love with the
1
site of the moon
1 2
Shes got pale green
3 4
stars in her room
Right above her bed
Repeat that pattern:
Listen to the song to get the big picture
Put them on the ceiling
Leave on the light
When the sun goes down
Then the stars might shine
Shining in the dark
Riff #1
Skinny little girl in her room alone
Shes got hell to spare in her home
If you can call it a home
Doesn't want to be like anybody else
When no one os around
She talks to herself
I can here her in the night
G G G GG C C C
Hey --- hey yeah
Its hard on a girl
When the blood won't come
When it ought to come
It's hard on a girl
When you try to walk around
On the shaking ground
play riff 2 over this part
Hey Hey daddy's going away
Scared little girl
Watchin' Alladdin on TV
Amanda always cries
When you yell at me
Yeah----Please don't yell at me
Climb up all the stairs
Close the door
Doesn't want to hear
Us fightin' any more
Yeah I'd better call it a day
Hey---hey yeah

| To me its about a little girl. Her parents are either divorced or they're just fighting all the time. Her parents fighting just tears her apart and in the end she's crying out her window because she doesn't want her dad to leave and go away again. | |

| That's what I had thought too, although I had not looked deep enough to notice that th girl's dad is dead. It makes sense now, though, thanks! Do you suppose that Amanda is an alias for Anabella? And that maybe he was thinking about killing himself and the consequences it might have on Ana? | |

| you people are so dumb! ok as a little girl that went through the same thing..well almost exactly the same thing. the song is about a girl barley entering her teens dealing with puberty as well as he dad leaving. SHe cries when her mom yells at him and she crys for him when he leaves and it hurt him to see his daughter be in pain. Jeez no one died and no one is pregnut | |

| What does he mean when he says "When the blood won't come"? I have an idea, but I'm curious what others are thinking. | |

| I imagine it's about a little girl (like 5 or 6 years old), so it's hard to see her cutting herself...that's more of an adolescent thing, or older child. Here's what I have always thought: "When the blood won't come When it ought to come" The blood, I think, refers to her father, since they are connected by their blood. So, the blood, her father, doesn't come when it ought to come (or ...her father isn't there for her like he should be). Although I see where the image comes from, I really don't think the pregnancy idea fits into the context of this song. I must admit, I am quite suprised that people think the dad is dead...guess their daddies didn't leave them maybe... so it doesn't seem so obvious. | |
