Pennsylvania Is...
World of Noise
Lyrics By Art Alexakis
Music By Everclear

This is an interesting track about abuse. The guitar isn't too hard,
but it's one of the more unique tracks on World of Noise because of the
way the parts go together.

Intro/verse: Bass scale in key of D

Guitar comes in with this (verse part)
e|-2------------------------------
b|-3------------------------------
g|-2---0-2---2-2/4-2-0-2---0-2----
d|--------------------------------
a|--------------------------------
e|--------------------------------

It's a powerful song, seeing an abusive pairing from both sets of eyes: The masculine, and the urge to continue with sexual advances, and yet stifling them... the feminine, and trying to shrug it off and go about her day as if nothing happened, to appease the social stigma of 'who is at fault' by not saying anything. 1

It's most definitely about abortion.

Abuse; this song is grogeous both vocally, as well as musically. Simplistic and deep @ the same time Art really did a good job with this one. I've always thought it was about Mia Zapata of the Gits whom Art dedicates the album too in the liner notes.

I believe this song is about the issue of abortion and, well, Pennsylvania and it's laws against it.
