| Actually, this song has a totally different meaning to me. To me, it resembles the relationship I'm in. A girl and I are in love with each other, but she just came out of a rocky relationship, and finds the words hard to say because they can cause trouble. In the meantime, we do everything short of saying the words to prove it to each other (except sex, it's not necessary). When she finally is ready to say them, it'll be no surprise to me because I already know it's true. However, it's at that point that our relationship will change shape and both of us will be more serious. That should nail the first verse and chorus dead on, right? | |

| I love this song. I think it's about a guy who is in love with a girl and she says she loves him but he wants her to show him, instead of just telling him. But it could actually be about a guy trying to get a girl to sleep with him to show her love for him. | |

| I love this song very much, but I think we should stop and think about it for a moment. It is an incredible song, but what about the concept? I believe the idea of "more than words" is far greater. | i think that it means you cant just say I love you and everything will be alright, you have to prove your love to someone and words can't do that by themselves. It's grabbing their hand when you can tell their nervous and telling them everythings all right, or just looking into their eyes without saying a word, letting your eyes do the talking,... but yeah I'm starting to get all cheesy so I'll stop now, but yeah great song. | |

| rinz, I know that's your opinion and you are entitled to it, but I wanted to respond anyways. If your theory is true, doesn't that mean that you'd have to equate sex with love? Having sex with someone doesn't necessarily mean that you love them.. know what I mean? I guess I just thought this song had more depth behind it....not just another song about sex. | |

| It is a beautiful song. I think it means just using the words "I love you" won't make a relationship built on love. She has to prove that she is in love with him (not necessarily sexually). | |

| This used to be my favourite song of all time when it first came out and I was about 13. I thought it was so deep and meaningful at the time, and I thought it was about a guy telling his girlfriend that he didn't just want to hear that she loved him, he wanted her to show him in other ways as well, like buying him little gifts and stuff that people do. Now that I am older and have been screwed over by more guys, I realise the true meaning of this song. It isn't my favourite any more. This is about a guy trying to get a girl to sleep with him using emotional blackmail - what would you do if my heart was torn in two? Well how exactly is that going to happen? Fuck off with you. | |
