John Farnham: "Burn for you"
I only heard this song a few days ago while auditioning for a band. I was
asked by the band to learn the song for practice. Hopefully I got it right.
The song is taken from the John Farnham album "Full house " from 1991.
I have added some loose strings where avaiable to get a kind of "loose"
and "floating" feel to it. The guitarist on the album uses a bit of
reverb/chorus and achieves a nice floating/12 string kind of sound.
The lyrics and guitar sequence follow after the tab.
Good luck
Lee Francis

Lyrics & guitar sequence:
[Intro]
[Verse] Verse 1 Got myself into some trouble tonight
Guess I'm just feelin' blue
It's been so long since I've seen your face
This distance between me and you
[Verse] Verse 2 That voice you show me is not the one that I know
I must be strung out of what I do
Don't hang up again
There's nothing else I know how to do
[Chorus] Chorus Burn for you
What am I gonna do
Burn for you
[Verse] Verse 3 I guess it feels like your always alone
And I feel that way too
It's so hard to explain to you
Please understand what I do
[Chorus] Chorus Burn for you
What am I gonna do
Burn for you
Burn for you
[Bridge intro]
[Bridge] Bridge Took my trouble to a bar tonight
For another point of view
But there's nothing new
I'm missing you
[Chorus] Chorus Burn for you
What am I gonna do
Burn for you
Burn for you
[Bridge intro]
[Chorus] Chorus Burn for you
What am I gonna do
Burn for you
[Chorus] Chorus Burn for you
What am I gonna do
Burn for you
Burn for you
[End] End Burn... for... you...

| I love this song so much, I think it's underrated. It's one of the most romantic, passionate and beautiful love songs of all time. Burning for someone is just so intense, wow. Yeah this is one of john's best songs. He has such an incredible voice, he sings this song perfectly. He has actually explained what the song means to him.. it's about being away from your loved ones and missing them so much. I think it's especially about him being overseas and doing what he has to do (make music and perform) and he simply wants his wife (he is definitely married) to know that he burns for her and misses her so deeply. "I guess it feels like you're always alone And I feel that way too It's so hard to explain to you Please understand what I do I burn for you What am I going to do I burn for you Burn for you" This is simply a beautiful, passionate and breath-taking song. Sad as well. Very emotional | |
