| yeah this song is awesome. Fort minor is really the only rap music that I listen to. lol. So yeah it's a bad realtionship, and a worse breakup. I think the girl cheated on him and he took her back but she did again and he pretty much told her to go fuck herself. He's moving on and there's nothing she can do about it, she's not gunna control him anymore. And he can tell just by the type of person she is that she's only gonna go down, but he's not gunna let this bad realtionship bring him down. "I used to have alittle bit of a plan, used to have a concept of where I stand, but that concept slipped right outta my hand. and now I don't really even know who I am." He had put so much into this relationship and it's all gone, she was everything to him, and now that she's gone he doesn't know what to do. "Yo, what do I have to say? Maybe I should do what I have to do to break free, and Whatever happens to you, we'll see But its not gonna happen with me" He's made up his mind and he's not going down like she is. he's moving on. I love the chorus. "I guess that this is where we've come to." The end of their relationship, the breakup. "If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me." she's in denial and probubly thinks he's gunna come back to her or take her back. But he's telling her it's not gunna happen. "But I, wont be there when you go down." He's not gunna be there when she realizes she's nothign without him, cuz he was the best thing that happend to her. What they had was really good but she through it away. "Just so you know now You're on your own now, believe me" He's telling her she better wake up cuz he's not gunna hold her up, or let her use him anymore. "Now i'm thinkin' like the mistake that I made doesn't hurt But it's not gonna work cause its Really much worse than I thought I wished you were something you were not And now this guilt is really all that I've got" I love this line. The mistake he made was taking her back and he has guilt over it because he knew it was a bad decision when he did it and it only made things worse. He's pretending it didn't do anythign to him but it did, cuz the problem is still there | |

| A correction: The rain every damn day is the same shade of grey. I'm pretty sure that's what the song meant. Anyhoo, I pretty much agree. Having gone through a pretty tough breakup recently, this song empowered me. | |

| The song actually reminded me of Linkin Park with Chester on the chorus. That's beside the point. The song is about being in a relationship with someone that is so self-destructive that things need to end. You thought you knew who the other person was, and you thought you knew wo you were, but so much has gone on that the relationship can't go on anymore. In Mike's verse he mentions feeling guilty and I think that the guilt comes from cutting the other person off. Not out of malice but because he needs to. Thus the lines in the chorus "But I, wont be there when you go down / Just so you know now / You're on your own now, believe me". I like the part at the end: I'm doing what I have to do You're on your own now believe me Whatever happens to you You're on your own now believe me What do I have to say? You're on your own now believe me Its not gonna happen to me You're on your own now believe me In 8 lines he summed up the whole song. I have to leave you, and let you destroy yourself to save me. | |

| i have a similar experience too. i used to be a top student but started slacking after mixing wit sum bad company.my grades sufferred terribly and my parents kept yelling the hell outta me.my world seemed to be crashing around me.but i couldnt care less coz these new friends were so much fun to be with.finally, i realised my mistake and started keeping my distance from them so i could concentrate on my studies and gurantee myself a good future. i tried advising em but they wudnt listen.well, guess whose the loser in the end? this song has a similar meaning.the singer was once caught up in smtg.he realised n tried breaking free.his friends wudnt listen to him when he tried telling em as well.so he's telling em in this song that they can do whatever they want to coz hes realised his mistake and is leaving them on their own now since they dont want to believe him. great song.awesome beat.fort minor is genius. | |

| Ok well this song is so like me and this guy I know. I just really feel the need to Share how like us it is =]. So here goes. I guess that this is where we've come to If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me But I, wont be there when you go down Just so you know now You're on your own now, believe me [Me and him have been through so so much. We have a love hate relationship definately. Usually its me trying to keep the friendship in tack etc, and I'm tired of it. But the thing is, When he is down or whatever he comes running back to me. Now the chorus in this means to me that I'm so tired of giving him everything when i get nothign back. Hes on his own now. Belive me] Hey, I used to have a little bit of a plan Used to, have a concept of where I stand But that concept slipped right outta my hand Now, I dont really even know who I am [Again exactly like me. Before I met him exactly how it says, I had a concept of where I stand. But when he came along.. everything turned upside down. I've lost some good friends over it, I don't even know who I am anymore] Yo, what do I have to say? Maybe I should do what I have to do to break free, and Whatever happens to you, we'll see But its not gonna happen with me [Again, Like us. I've tried to break free from him. Stop talking to him, Avoid him, Try to forget him completly. It's just hard. But whatever he has going on right now, it's not gonna happen with me.] Back then, I thought you were just like me Somebody who could see all the pain I see But you proved to me unintentionally That you would self destruct eventually [My life was pretty fucked up, and then I met him. Turns out so was his. He could see the pain I see. I thought he was just like me. But he did prove to me, he would self distruct. All the time he had his whole suicidal thing going on. I had to talk him out of it again and again.] Now i'm thinkin' like the mistake that I made doesn't hurt But it's not gonna work cause its Really much worse than I thought I wished you were something you were not And now this guilt is really all that I've got [I did wish he was sometihng he wasnt. Someone who could show affection, Could tell me he cares. And then the resent from him of me trying to change him. I have guilt.] You turned your back and walk away ashamed All you got Is a memory and pain, nothing makes sense You stare at the ground, and hear my voice inside your head When no one else is around [This part of the verse is alot like us. He was always pulling away, always walking out, always leaving me. But he thought i would always be there when he returned. And I was. Untill I got sick of being used. So I left pretty much. And now all he has is a memory of pain. Should have fucking appreciated me asshole...] What do i have to say Maybe i should do what i have to do to break free, yeah Whatever happens to you, we'll see But it's not gonna happen to me [Again self explanitary. I wasnt sure if I wanted to break free or not. Maybe I was in love. And maybe I hated the way he made me feel. But then again, I loved it.] I'm doing what I have to do You're on your own now believe me Whatever happens to you You're on your own now believe me What do I have to say? You're on your own now believe me Its not gonna happen to me You're on your own now believe me [But hes on his own now. Believe me. Took me for granted... ] Hmm so sorry to bore you all who actually bothered to read that =] just felt like sharing the story of my life with James =D. ..Love this song. Fort Minor all the way XD | |

| Well, I like the whole idea of the love relationship, but this song screams the idea of two friends, one who is in a gang and the other refuses to join that lifestyle. It's one friend saying you have a choice but I'm not going to go down for you just because you are my friend. 1 | |
