ok. this song is pretty simple. i haven`t worked out the solo yet, it`s too hard to get, but i`m tryin.
heres the bare bones of the song.
verse; "and then the past recedes, and i won`t be involved`....
^^^^ g d Am c g d Am c
just before chorus, you play b7 after the last Am
chorus; " ay, this buisness of how long we try, to stay alive"....
^^ c b7 c d
it just continues in this fashion. just figure out your chorus and your verse and your laughing.
any questions or comments; johnfrusciante66@fsmail.net
thanx and good luck

| I don't care what it means. I just like the way it makes me feel. I don't think any of John's works needs to be dissected. Sometimes you should just enjoy imagery of the music instead of trying to tie it to a chair and beat a confession out of it. | |

| My favorite thing about listening to John is that you get inside his head with his lyrics. Not all of them may mean something directly to us, but something is learned by taking the journey through his thought processes. A lot of them seem very sad, which one can only expect from someone who sat alone so close to death for so long. 1 | |

| I put that "yea" in at the end because I think it might be the most exciting point of the whole song, I don't really know where to start when describing what I like about it though. Very complex song to say the least, in my opinion. Sorry, having trouble coming up with anything provacative to say here - it would be nice to eventually get a grasp on the songs meaning though. | |

| I agree with Zephyr47. This was the first John Frusciante solo song I heard, and I was just happy out of my mind the rest of that day:) | |

| I agree with you guys. What I don't get though, is figuring out who "you" is? Is it the past itself, the "risk" (as in drawing it up as a person), or simply just a pal whom he speaks to(in that case, what does he imply with: "Seems pointless from above. You're looking down at me....")? Needless to say; this song rocks. I can't stop listening to it :) I am really happy that musicians still can make these kind of contribtions to help keep music alive. I am getting worried about the future of music with all that crap on the tv/radio... Btw, has any1 figured the solo out? :) | |

| i'm disappointed that no one takes the time to crack open a dictionnary when they don't understand words like recede... the song says quite the opposite, the character is more comfortable living in the past than breaking free from it... the character doesn't want to make that effort because then there's nothing to hold on to.. | |
