#----------------------------------------------------------------------#

Warm-up #1: After you've finished at the first and second frets
(as shown below), move up one fret and repeat. Continue moving
up one fret at a time until you've run out of frets. Then repeat
this exact same exercise using just your second and third fingers,
and then just your third and fourth fingers. You'll really feel
the burn using your third and fourth fingers.

 --------------------------------1--2--------------------------------|
 --------------------------1--2--------1--2--------------------------|
 --------------------1--2--------------------1--2--------------------|
 --------------1--2--------------------------------1--2--------------|
 --------1--2--------------------------------------------1--2--------|
 --1--2--------------------------------------------------------1--2--|

Warm-up #2: After you've finished at the first and third frets
(as shown), move up one fret and repeat. Continue moving up one
fret at a time until you've run out of frets. Then repeat this
exact same exercise using just your second and fourth fingers.
Again, you'll really feel this workout any time you're using
your fourth finger.

 --------------------------------1--3--------------------------------|
 --------------------------1--3--------1--3--------------------------|
 --------------------1--3--------------------1--3--------------------|
 --------------1--3--------------------------------1--3--------------|
 --------1--3--------------------------------------------1--3--------|
 --1--3--------------------------------------------------------1--3--|

Warm-up #3: Using your first and fourth fingers, continue this
pattern as you did in warm-ups 1 and 2.

 --------------------------------1--4--------------------------------|
 --------------------------1--4--------1--4--------------------------|
 --------------------1--4--------------------1--4--------------------|
 --------------1--4--------------------------------1--4--------------|
 --------1--4--------------------------------------------1--4--------|
 --1--4--------------------------------------------------------1--4--|

Warm-up #4: This one will cause you to stretch a bit. Proceed
across the strings and up the neck as before. When you're done
using the first and second fingers, use your first and third
fingers, playing the first and fourth frets (stretching three
frets). Then, using your first and fourth fingers, stretch
out playing the first and fifth frets.

 --------------------------------1--3--------------------------------|
 --------------------------1--3--------1--3--------------------------|
 --------------------1--3--------------------1--3--------------------|
 --------------1--3--------------------------------1--3--------------|
 --------1--3--------------------------------------------1--3--------|
 --1--3--------------------------------------------------------1--3--|

Note: The next three exercises focus on three-finger drills.
Warm-up #6 in particular emulates scale fragments, so it really
applies almost directly to your soloing skills.

Warm-up #5: This exercise will challenge your alternate picking
technique a little, but it's more about the fret hand. Proceed
across the strings and up the neck as before. When you're done
with the first, second, and third fingers, use your second,
third, and fourth fingers, which will be really tiring for most
people-but thats exactly what these warm-ups are for. You'll
play so much more precisely after putting your fingers through
this workout.

 -----------------------------------------------1--2--3------------------------------------------|
 --------------------------------------1--2--3-----------1--2--3---------------------------------|
 -----------------------------1--2--3-----------------------------1--2--3------------------------|
 --------------------1--2--3-----------------------------------------------1--2--3---------------|
 -----------1--2--3-----------------------------------------------------------------1--2--3------|
 --1--2--3-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------1--2|

Warm-up #6: Proceed across the strings and up the neck as before.
When you're done with the first, second, and fourth fingers,
use your first, third, and fourth fingers (playing the first,
third, and fourth frets to begin the exercise). Then start over
using your first, second, and fourth fingers, stretched a bit.

                       1 2 3
 ------------------------|------------------------|-------------------------|
 ------------------------|------------------------|-------------------------|
 ------------------------|------------------------|-------------------------|
 --------------------etc.-|--------------------etc.-|--------------------etc.--|
 -----------1--2--4------|-----------1--3--4------|-----------1--3--5------|
 --1--2--4---------------|--1--3--4---------------|--1--3--5---------------|

Warm-up #7: Now we'll really stretch out your fretting hand.
This is similar to warm-up #6. but with more stretching. It can
be quite tough at first, but keep at it, and you'll see your playing
improve because of your extra effort. Continue across and up
as usual. When you're done with the first, second, and fourth
fingers, use your first, third, and fourth fingers.

 ------------------------|-------------------------|
 ------------------------|-------------------------|
 ------------------------|-------------------------|
 --------------------etc.-|--------------------etc.--|
 -----------1--2--5------|-----------1--4--5-------|
 --1--2--5---------------|--1--4--5----------------|
