Hi guys..my name's Matthew..fourteen, from the Philippines..I was one time trying
to make a song for my band so we can release something in the school, and I was tryin
to blend in some chords. Accidentally, I pressed something that sounded like Hanson's
Penny and Me, so I got my cd and played it so could find the chords instead.
I finished looking for the chords just last night...

Standard Tuning EADGBe
Capo on 1st Fret

===Chords===
I do not know the real name of some of this freaking chords so I decided to name
them by myself. Just help yourself understand 'em, they ain't hard to get.

A:x02220
Asus:x02230
E:022100 or x22100, it's your choice
Esus:022200
D:x00232 or xx0232
C#m:x46654 or z4665x
C#:x46664 or x4666x
D2:x57775 or x5777x
E2:x79997 or x7999x

If you're wondering why I made open/pressed strings dead in chords such as E,
C#m, C#, D2, and E2, well..it's because I just basically do not here one of
the strings opened or pressed in some parts of the song, especially in the
interlude part. You sometimes have to omit the first string there.
============

Help yourself with the strumming patterns. ;)

Intro: A-Asus-A E-Esus-D A-Asus-A E-Esus-D

Verse I:

A-Asus-A
Cigars in the summertime
E-Esus
Under the sky by the light
D
I can feel you read my mind
A-Asus-A
I can see it in your eyes
E-Esus D
Under the moon as it plays like music every line
A-Asus-A E-Esus
There's a rug with the bleeding dye under the fan in the room
D
With our passions burning high
A-Asus-A E
By the chair with a leopard skin under the light
D(ring)
It's always Penny and me tonight

Adlib: A-Asus-A E-Esus-D (2x)

Verse 2:

A-Asus-A
Hop on the plane, step with both my feet
E-Esus D
Riding in seat number three on a flight to NYC
A-Asus-A E-Esus
Got my bean in a coffee cup next to my seat
D
Catch the view with another good book to read
A-Asus-A
Sending home on the friendly skies
E
Missing her eyes
D(ring)
It's always Penny and me tonight

Chorus:
A-Asus-A C#m D A-Asus-A
Cos Penny and me like to roll the windows down
E D A-Asus-A
Turn the radio up; push the pedal to the ground
C#m D E
And Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
D
Close our eyes, pretend to fly
E(ring)
It's always Penny and me tonight

Adlib: A-Asus-A E-Esus-D (2x)

Verse 3: Do the same chords there. You just have to keep on playing E-D on the
line that goes "singin' along to feelin' alright..I'm makin' it by the pink
moonlight it's always Penny and me tonight.."

Repeat Chorus

Interlude:
C#m C#
Well Penny likes to get away
D2 E2
And drown her pain in lemonade
C#m C#
Penny dreams of rainy days
D2 E2
And nights up late by the fireplace
D2 E2
And aimless conversations about the better days

Adlib

Do the singin-along-to-feelin-alright part then go back to the chorus

To end the song, there's a part there when you have to keep on playing the
introductory chords. You just help yourself with the strums cuz they change,
and make sure you're goin to make an ending ring with A. I'm too lazy to type
all those things..heheheh...

this song is lke the BEST hanson song ever! it's so mellow and moody, and also makes you reminisce back into the past. Excellent song!!! i remember not liking hanson for a while, especially because taylor and zac's voices kinda annoyed me...but now. taylor hanson is one of the best singers of this genre! :D cheers

blew flame, thank god for people like you, who give them a chance. i believe taylor said that this song is about hearing a song, when you hear a song it makes you think of a certain time in your life. in this case, his time with "penny".

Hanson has grown so much, they are awesome artists and have finally found their place. This is an awesome CD and this song is just so pretty. This song ot me is like an adventure with a girl (penny) and just where they go and what they do. great song XoXo

I like it so much...I have always believed that those little and clumsy Hanson brothers would have grown well....And it's now true!Good music and words...but in the whole album I prefer "Lost without each other" and "Crazy beautiful"...Anyway,they're GREAT!A kiss from Italy, Sara

This is no surprise really. I may not have listened to their music before. But think about how good that music was for how young they were. They're definitely talented guys, and it's no surprise they were gonna get into more of a rock sound as they got older. It's a good tune.

this song is so totally about memories that you hang onto and remember as you get older. i mean, Penny isn't an actual girl, she's cumulative memories from over the years that you think about as you grow up. like rolling the windows down, turning the radio up and pushing the pedal to the ground. that's something you remember because you had fun doing it... HANSON FOREVER!!

Does it get any better than this? I don't think so... No teeny bopper here by the way, just a straight up 24 year old male who digs Rock and Roll. Do not deny this song 1 2 Next

I used to HATE Hanson, but i must agree that they were pretty talented kids...i mean they were only kids. And now look that them....hotter, and sounding better. This song is so poetic, and pretty. And the video is amazing. Samarie Armstrong is in it, and i guess she plays Penny. For some reason it reminds me of that time before school starts, where summer is ending, but fall hasn't quite come yet, and when the sun is setting you might need a light sweater to go outside, and everything is perfect, just for a second. Thats why i love this song, and to me its timeless, and i'll love it for a longtime if not forever.
