i really like what hmarquiss said about the meaning of this song. its a really good song to listen to when you just need a soft, gentle song. i love the last line, "i smile cause everythings alright". i think it means that Jeus always comforts us in this world that we live in.

Well it's called Fourteen because Jason wanteed 14 tracks on Smile, but there was only 13 so he called it Fourteen. I think it's about regrets, but he knows God will take him back, and even though that person died, he knows it's okay cause they'll go to heaven, and even in this World of hate and killing, its okay cause he's going to heaven...

I love this song it means (i think) that the world is losing God. when he is talking about she its no one in particularly just a ramdon girl and and the world is falling apart but he cant but smile cuz he knows everything will be ok u kno and the only reason why they named it "Fourteen" is because they wanted 14 songs but two two songs didnt make the album thats the only reason They talked about it in their interview. but this song touches my heart if u read the very bottom on Hawk Nelson's poster from their new cd "Smile, It's the end of the WORLD" IT SAYS "THIS RECORD IS A POSITIVE RESONSE FOR A NEGATIVE WORLD" how cool is that

I like this song. Sometimes I need a break from all of Hawk Nelson's punky songs. So I listen to this one or "Zero".

This is a really good song, different from some of their other songs. It seems he's missing someone, a girl of his, but as he thinks he realizes that although the world is coming to an end and people are running scared, he feels at peace. It's a good song.

Lovely song. But, I still don't know what this song is about really. In the first part of the song, it almost seems as though someone died and he wants this person back but he knows he can't have the person back. The second part is sort of un-clear to me. Oh well.

sry guys, add on to my statement above...the first part is about his girlfriend, or wife, and how he is afraid to leave her. then the 2nd verse is just how he knows everything will be alright, if you look at it closely... The end is near, so much is left to say[the end of the world is coming, and yet he has so much more he wants to say to her...pretty self explanatory] The world is getting Cold tonight[he can really really feel it coming now] Traumatized, people are so afraid;[everyone around him is realizing it and are so afraid that it is coming to an end, and afraid to leave their loved ones behind] I smile cause everything’s alright.[but he is smiling because he knows everything will be alright in the afterlife, with the lord] Thats all from me now

Hawk Nelson often does not put enough info into their songs to define their meaning. :( Which is alright, leaving the song meaning largely in the mind of the hearer. In this song there is nothing in the lyrics to substantiate the title Fourteen. It may have meaning to the author but it is left undefined to the audience. There is not enough info about the "she" in line one to define the relationship. That being sid, here's a couple of thoughts on the meaning: Trouble in life flows as naturally as day passes into night in the short lives we have been given. But even amid the trouble we can smile knowing God is ultimately in control.

This song is about the end of the world. Jason Dunn(lead singer) knows that, when he dies, and the world does finally come to an end, he wont be afraid, because he knows theres more for him in the afterlife, with God.

The 6th line is incorrect. It should be "The world is getting COLD tonight". Great song in my opinion.
