i think it's a mix of what people have said so far. he's saying that yeah, he didn't have a father, and doesn't know what it feels like. but he does have another father, God...

I don't think any of it's particularly *about* God the Father, but written with God in mind, about the loss of the singer's earthly father.

I think it means that his own father walked out on him when he was little and he never had a father growing up, and watching his friends around him hang out with thier dad's and have that father-son connection hurts him. He asks him basically if he remembers walking out on his family and tells him that he will never know what it was like to see him grow up into a man. He had no where to turn so he accepted god as his savior and now has someone to turn to instead of his actual dad.Someone to help him through everyday challenges and a hand to guide him through life.

I think this song is talking about how his father took off when he was little, and he left his family. And he never knew his father. And as he grew up, he turned into who he is because his father did this to him. And he never knows what it's like to stand next to him and everything. Eventually, his father has changed, and came back. And he forgives the guy he used to be and lets his father back in because he's changed. Before then, he was so close to the end of life because what had happened, but when his father came back, he looked the other way.

this song is really special to me, because it reminds me of my dad. the only difference is they say december instead of november. my dad committed suicide in november of 05. people may cause pain in your life but like the song says you have to find a way to forgive them. besides i've still got the greatest father in the world, God. God bless!!!!

&& the first verse/chorus is talking about his dad leaving, and the last verse is just talking about fogiving his dad, and God healing him, and just start over and forget the past. 1

I also think there's a dual meaning, but I get confused sometimes when I listen to it. In the 2nd verse it sounds like he's talking about God the father but in the 3rd verse it sounds like he's talking about his biological father.

I think this song has dual meanings, basically the meanings are split into the verse one of which could be about losing someone either dying or you just leave them behind and the other meaning could be ..............i have figured that one out.....if anyone every posts another one up here (likely not cause no one knows this band) gimme some opinions

i think the first stanza's to a parent, as is the chorus, the second stanza could be split into two parts, part a. being God talking, and part b. talking to God the Father
